Look at Me Now was the winner in match 66, so it moves onward and upward.
In match 67, Everyone's Born To Die battles Stranger.
REMEMBER TO VOTE IN THE POLL

Stranger has some nice chords, but meanders a bit.
EBTD is one of those songs that should have been included on the original album. It's one of the most unique songs in the ELO catalogue.

It's got to be Stranger, my favourite song from Secret Messages.

Everyone's Born To Die is probably in my top ten ELO songs. Dylan meets a Stones ballad, all mixed up in the early ELO blender.

Both of these songs are excellent. Stranger wins the coin flip this time.
Jeff was pretty efficient not leaving anything too good on the shelf (as far as we know). EBTD is one of the very few if not the only exception though. It's so much better than most of the songs on On The Third Day.

I like both songs but Born To Die has more meaningful lyrics.

Everyone's Born To Die is probably in my top ten ELO songs. Me too, it's definitely in my top 10 ELO songs and I think Jeff was deliberately trying to mimick something Bob Dylan could have done.

'Everyone's Born To Die' is a favourite but 'Stranger' is one of my favourites from SM so I'll vote for that.

forgive me if these are dumb questions long ago answered, but ... what's the story behind Everyone's born to die? is it about a real person? is it just Jeff's attempt at writing a Dylan like song? is that an organ playing in the background or just Richard on the Moog? why was it left off of the album?

seems like the organ sound is coming from a harmonium played by Jeff
