Now You're Gone came out victorious in match 44, so it plows forward in our tournament of fun.
For match 45, the Buddy Holly song Words Of Love, which Jeff covered for the Holly tribute album, goes against the Zoom song Stranger on a Quiet Street

'Stranger on a Quiet Street', it's just more Jeff-sounding.

I'd never heard Jeff's cover of "Words" before and I quite like it. I'm not sure how I feel voting for it since it's not written by Jeff and I am a Zoom fan. But "Words" is the better song, imo.

I quite like 'Stranger On A Quiet Street' although I've seen it bashed too. There isn't much of a tune there, but it's a nice groove.

Going for Stranger - the more I'm reminded of songs from Zoom on this poll the more I realise how good the songs sound. Words is a great song but I find the cover a bit clattery.

Damn! "Words of love" is a classic so I'm sure the outcome would be different in a general music forum, but this is not a general music forum. "Words of love" for me. You are not alone, orioles70.

Stranger On A Quiet Street. I've always loved the electric piano on that one.

Give "Words of Love" a second listen and concentrate on Jeff's vocals. He sounds different than just about all of his ELO recordings. A lower register purr - thick and smooth like molasses. It's almost like he's singing through a fuzz pedal. I like the sound. Anyone know how he pulls it off? Triple tracking perhaps?
compare to a live version by Buddy Holly
