I’ve never understood why the version on BOP was preferred by JL

Never heard this version before, hard to judge it against the LP version in its unpolished state. Both have their charms though. Thanks for posting Horacewimp

I’ve never understood why the version on BOP was preferred by JL It was the record company's call IIRC. They thought it may be controversial. Apparently referring to our father in heaven is frowned upon by some.

This was always a preferred version to the album version. I wish Jeff would have fought the record company on this.
But I suspect he will never talk about this track as it has nothing to do with the Wilburys or George Harrison or producing the Beatles.

I'd imagine this album is lower than Time on Jeff's personal likes...

I guess this is the first time most of us hear this. Though, I gather it has been circulating among inner circles for quite some time. It sounds like it's from the source as 'Beatles Forever'.
The 'If you could turn night into day' -sections after each chorus feel a bit too much. Jeff was right to edit them down in 2007. But I like the extra verse. I wish we had that in better quality.

Yes, the source is the same tape as Beatles Forever. Also of note from that recording is The Move's undubbed take 1 of 10538 Overture. It's an instrumental version without any of the typical Roy Wood overdubs (cellos etc)

I like this version but it wouldn't have been suitable for the opening track on BOP, Jeff likes a stormer to kick things off and the edited version does that well.

The religious overtones in this version are a little bit distracting from what is an otherwise really good song. But maybe Jeff was just playing into the nonsense of those people who claimed some of his other music contained "Satanic" messages.

Dare I say it - 'time' for a Bug Club version For a moment there, I thought that this was a poor copy of the alternative version on the 2001 release of BOP. But - it isn't

That song in particular requires a bit of extra touch-up due to some very loud "camera-shuffling" noises at the start. I might upload it to the channel after some heavy spectral editing to get rid of it. If you'd just like the original audio, send me a PM 😄 Dare I say it - 'time' for a Bug Club version For a moment there, I thought that this was a poor copy of the alternative version on the 2001 release of BOP. But - it isn't Believe it or not, the version on YouTube came after several hours of painstaking restoration. I'd be impressed if anyone could do better. To anyone that thinks they can, I say, have at it!

Another fellow forum member filled my wish already. It was very rough indeed. And thanks a lot for uploading 'Heaven Only Knows' and those other gems on Youtube!! If you're taking request as to what to remaster next, may I suggest the 'Nathan James' recordings. I bet there's a lot to improve there, especially with Supersonic.
