I'm hopelessly old school when it comes to music formats. I've got my vinyl and my CDs and haven't played around with virtual formats much. In fact with the few MP3 items that I've had, they seemed to get lost when old laptops or MP3 players died. Where did I back that stuff up?
I gave my daughter a vinyl copy of OOTB for Christmas and she told me today that her roommate has his own "server" and uploaded their entire vinyl collection (not huge) to the server. He's an IT professional and likes to repurpose discarded gear from work.
Has anyone else uploaded their vinyl? to a cloud storage account perhaps What software do you use to digitize analog music? And what do you use to listen to it? Can you store the digital download music that you buy in the same place?
sorry if these are clueless questions

I transferred some seven to ten years ago some of my vinyl to digital I concentrated on songs which weren’t available to download at the time. I used a turntable with USB connection to my iMac, the songs downloaded through Audacity program. Once downloaded I dropped the file into iTunes and added the album art and other information.
I’ve still got the files, when the computer is changed I just copy my music folder on to the new one and you are good to go. All of my digital music is on iTunes including downloads, mp3s, music from vinyl, music ripped from CDs, from here I can drag and drop music onto a usb stick to listen in the car or onto my phone, I can also stream by wifi or Bluetooth to different hifi units or speakers in the house.

I've done something similar but not with iTunes though. I downloaded all the albums into one folder on my computer so it's all nice and convenient. Like you say, if you change computer you just swap the hard drive or copy what files you want to save.
