Very sad to hear of the passing of Steve Priest from Sweet. Great band that brightened the music scene back in the 70s. Will never forget the opening to Ballroom Blitz. The song even made it on to the film Wayne’s World. RIP Steve.

I grew up with Blockbuster and Hell Raiser, RIP Steve. Yeah me too, probably my favourite glam group. Always remember him wearing a WW1 German helmet on TOTPs with Blockbuster. He wasn't that well, last film I saw of him he was playing in a wheelchair. Andy Scott is the last remaining original member now.

Just wondering did anybody ever get to see Sweet perform? Another band I would like to have seen.

Always liked this one.
I'd like to read Steve's book, "Are You Ready Steve?" but it's hard to get hold of. RIP Steve, and thank you.

It was always fun waiting for that little wave to the camera on TOTP.

Really sad to hear of Steve's passing. Like a lot of forumheads Sweet were a big part of my childhood and they always brought colour, laughs and great music to the likes of Top of the Pops. I've seen versions of the band live but never the original line up - a friend of mine did see them though and said they were very smutty, very heavy and totally brilliant.
Steve was the first man to wear hotpants on Top of the Pops and sashayed into his role as camp commander with the wink of an eye. When you consider how relatively unenlightened society was at the time it was pretty brave of him and the rest of the band to embrace this before it became more mainstream. He had a reputation as a formidable bassist too.
Bless you, Steve, you were indeed a trailblazer and very likely a hellraiser. RIP.

That’s was a great read dillwyn. Some big names mentioned David Bowie, Axl Rose,T Rex and Slade. Remember Mud very well, went to see them one time and got to meet Les Gray, a really good guy.
