Guster have a knack for writing catchy melodies with vocal harmony. But I like them best when they play with an expanded line up that includes violin and cello (big surprise, right?). Now they've released a live album where they play with the Omaha Symphony. Guster +2 strings Guster +whole bunch of strings guster.bandcamp.com/album/omagah-guster-with-the-omaha-symphony

I wonder if they were purposefully trying to come up with a Mr Blue Sky sort of song when they wrote "Hello Mr Sun"? most listeners seem to think they were aiming more for Beatles and "Here Comes the Sun". The ELO and Beatles blueprints aren't so different. Referring to "Mr Sun" and some of the playful lyrics and melodies make me thing more of MBS than George's song.
side note: when this album came out, the album cover brought to mind a cactus. Now I can't help but think of a virus particle ;(
