So I've been challenged to learn a song with a color in the title, and I decided to spare everyone from the overplayed Mr Blue Sky and learn Blue from AITU instead. I was pleasantly surprised to find chords online, but some of them don't sound right to me... however I'm still too new to guitar to be able to get very far in figuring them out myself, so I was hoping that one of you with more experience on guitar (or piano) could help me out. From the chords I found, "blue..." at the beginning of each verse is F#m followed by B. The best I came up with was to replace the B with a B7, maybe Am for the F#m? I'm also iffy on the G#m that's listed for "void", but I could be wrong about that...

that seems to be correct so far and coincides with my version - however, the verse sometimes (especially on the 1st time) starts with a clear F#m (there is definitely a note C# in the chord) and then changes only in the second half of the bar to Am6 or F#m75- (same chord, different root). But otherwise everything is correct IMHO.
intro etc: E Am E Am E
verse: F#m7 Am6 B79- E F#m75- B79- E
A D79 G#m C79 (Gm/C) F#m75- B79- E etc..
middle8: C#m G# A E C#m G# A F#7
ending: … E F E Dm E

Can I just say how much I hate barre chords?

haha - then you have a serious problem with this song ;-) But there are indeed some other ELO songs that can be played without using barre chords.

Lol, I don't mind barre chords too much--until you're supposed to barre with both your first finger AND your third finger, that is... I'm not sure that will ever be physically possible for me Thanks for the help
