So Jeff doesn't like Time,I think we have got the message now. Surely though his marketing people know that it's one of the fans favourites? and that they are missing a trick with not bringing out a 40th anniversary album? Oh well.... I would love to be more optimistic about the rest of this year and an archival release of Time. Speaking of which, I read an interview Kelly Groucutt gave (and Happy Birthday, Kelly! wherever you are) where at the end of the last show on the U.S. leg of the Time Tour, the stage crew came out with whipped creme pies and hit band members in the face as a gag / celebration. Kelly was one recipient. A photo or photos of that happening would be an excellent addition to an archival release of Time. I've never seen photos of the last U.S. show and something like the pies in faces would make us long suffering ELO fans a bit more happy as it reflects something NEW about the original band.

I've maybe asked this before but just who has the FINAL say on releases and such like, Jeff or his record company? I guess it is too much to ask of Jeff to sit down for an extensive interview and answer questions such as these. Other legacy acts are all over the social media channels. If they can do it, certainly Jeff could. Agreed. And this is something I still can't fathom. Why does Jeff have a standard set of questions that he answers over and over again? All we keep hearing about is the formation of the Traveling Wilburys, his latest album & tour, and what it was like to work with George Harrison and Tom Petty and the surviving Beatles. Why can't he just sit down and do a lengthy series of unscripted interviews with someone? Is he afraid of what he might be asked? Is his management afraid of what he might say? I just don't get it. There's so much stuff I would like to know about him and his music and his production techniques. I do understand his desire for privacy and his general shyness, but it is so frustrating as a lifelong fan to hear the same questions and answers.

When was the last time Jeff has actually been spotted out in public or even given us fans a video message, was it last Christmas? For all we know he may now be clean shaven and wear contact lenses.
Normally we would get pictures of him leaving restaurants or at the airport but I can remember anything like this for ages, it would be nice if he gave us an update or just a message to say hi I’m well and working on new tracks…..guess I’ll dream on.

I do understand his desire for privacy and his general shyness, but it is so frustrating as a lifelong fan to hear the same questions and answers. Those subjects you brought up are known in some circles as The Menu, and Jeff has been increasingly hiding behind this since the collapse of the Zoom Tour. Ever notice how it's always the same few journalists and media outlets that interview him to any degree, even though he's simply repeating a handful of predictable talking points we've all heard countless permutations on at this stage in his career? Try asking one of those who dared to challenge the system that's in place - they're not only frozen out of getting to speak with Jeff again, but they lose the right to publish work that would stem from their efforts to reach out, any communication negotiated through what amounts to an advance disclosure agreement before you're given the privilege of access to anyone also represented by the same management. For someone looking to maintain their livelihood, it's often easier to play along and surrender editorial control rather than risk being kept out of such a wide loop. I won't go into details on how this impacted me, only I will say that I'd chosen to maintain a sense of integrity certain figures have subsequently tried and so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to undermine. Should the door be opened without as many strings being attached, I'd still love the opportunity to chat about more in-depth technical details. Alas, we all know what's really going to happen... BTW, the other key question on The Menu relates to how Jeff wrote Mr. Blue Sky, which is all the more bold when you think back to how Kelly almost sold his different version of events to a tabloid until he too was hit with the "take it or leave it/put up and shut up" approach to silencing those who'd risk it all to contest what is now a narrative established solely as a direct result of repetition. In a cutthroat industry where you have the likes of Don Arden threatening to screw you over, the options are to either be consumed or become the bigger shark. Ain't it a drag, babe? You're tellin' me!

Face the Music website is currently offline, maybe it’s been updated with loads of 50th anniversary news….I’ll get my coat.

Surely Jeff knows that he's just fobbing his fans off with the same old schtick? We are not asking for the meaning of life, just an insight into how Jeff works and the odd ELO story from years gone by. I've got to say that his behaviour is starting to annoy me.....

What are the chances of that, and just a day after no less than Mike Stevens posted a hint of him being in rehearsals with an ELO bandmate, standing in front of a very familiar carpet being weighed down with a keyboard rig possibly belonging to a certain long-absent someone's right hand man? We had those Japanese reissues yesterday, and perhaps that was a sign of things to come rather than being one of Sony's regional divisions doing whatever it could to fill a gap in the market? 9/9 seems like a nice date to be making an announcement for "something" due next year, don't you think?

Maybe Jeff is getting ready for retirement? Now that he has complete control over the ELO empire, and has effectively silenced all journalists and former band members from telling details of the old band, what is there left to do? Another tour based upon greatest hits? An odd release or two, but not what the rabid 40 year followers of ELO want? I know there are many followers who will buy another greatest hits package with one new song attached, but I'm not in that camp. If today means something (9/9) I hope it shows up. And besides, I didn't think that the Face the Music website even existed anymore.

Subliminal advertisement for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab who appear to be the only one interested in releasing something for #ELO50 other than Sony Music Japan, also, please use original 1974 audio for "Can't Get It Out of My Head"!

Spinning the vinyl and bawling my eyes out to it after hearing of Lou Clark's passing......
And a personal favorite from the comments:
Alright, I'll back off on the pessimism now...
