My equal favourite band. Saw them first at Brum NEC in '83. He was the best drummer I ever saw live and one of the greatest in my lifetime.
A sad day. RIP Neil.

Check out some of his jazz-influenced drumming on YouTube. The guy was definitely an innovator. I know Rush weren't everyone's cup of tea, but there's no denying the flat-out brilliance of songs like Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio, Limelight, and Subdivisions.

we've talked about his drumming but his lyrics were central to rush's output as well...the above mentioned Limelight is a great example
