One of my favourite singles of the 60's is Telstar by The Tornados which was a number 1 in both the UK and USA. I did a bit of researching and found out that one of the original members of this group was a certain George Bellamy who is the father of Muse's leader Matt!

Telstar is a great song, apparently Matt heard it millions of times growing up but only really appreciated it later on. The epic Knights of Cydonia begins as a kind of tribute to Telstar before wandering off into space cowboy territory and finishing with an epic mosh. The video is fab, see how many film references you can spot...

I always thought Muse sounded a bit Joe Meek-y. If he were around today he'd surely have worked with the band.
I'd love to hear a Muse version of 'Telstar', I like to imagine they could give the original a run for it's money. OMD do a great version, it's piece of music you can tell they listened to a lot, it fits their style so well.
