Jeff Lynne Original Mix Disks 8" Diskettes Lift Me Up, Every Little Thing +MORE Ebay auction Sold Date: October 13, 2019 Start Date: October 12, 2019 Final Price: $299.99 (USD) Seller Feedback: 4203 Buyer Feedback: 140
This is a lot of (4) original 8" diskettes / mix discs of Jeff Lynne recordings from 1990. It's one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable. We liquidated Rumbo Studios, the recording studio originally built and owned by Daryl Dragon of Captain and Tennille, where these recordings, along with others were stored in a climate controlled room. Many hit records of the 80's and 90's were recorded at Rumbo (Tom Petty, Guns N' Roses, No Doubt, Kiss, Fleetwood Mac, Smashing Pumpkins, + many more). The discs are as follows: Disk 1 (1/7/90): Sirens of Titan - Ruff Mix (M) Nobody Home (M) Lift Me Up (M) Don't Let Go (M) Thru Evening Last
Disk 2 (1/20/90) Copy of Disk 1 Disk 3 (1/21/90) Every Little Thing (M) Disk 4 (1/24/90) You Comin Back Earth (Save Me Now) Take Me
Who has more information about the rare recordings?

Wow,quite the find. Is Sirens of Titans the instrumental song Sirens? I've never heard of Thru Evening Last or Take Me. It appears as if You Comin Back Earth was the working title for Save Me Now, but who knows? Somebody buy these and solve the mystery!

You Comin' Back and Earth are actually listed as two separate tracks, with the latter of these subtitled Save Me Now, which hopefully clears up any mysteries as to the latter's identity. Also, I'm fairly sure that Sirens Of Titan was indeed a working title for Sirens, and someone over at the Steve Hoffman Music Forums suggested that Take Me could be an early name for Borderline, leaving Thru Evening Last as another possible outtake from the Armchair Theatre sessions. If it helps, the consensus is that such disks probably don't contain full songs (unless they're in a heavily compressed format intended for archival purposes only), but likely have automation settings for a digital mixing board. Whatever the case, I'm definitely curious to know more...

Who is going to have an eight-inch floppy drive to play these on? My oldest computer has a three-inch drive, but forget eight inch. Well, okay, there are some on eBay for $500. Who knows if they work?

When I first saw these disks something came to mind. I don't believe that these contain actual songs on them . I think they contain mixing board settings stored on floppy . While not certain about this it seems unlikely that floppy disks from 1990 era would contain enough memory to store several songs worth of music tracks in a half decent quality. So while I am intrigued by some of the titles on those disks I doubt there is anything listenable on that collection of disks . But I will keep my eye open for the JL Dysan sessions disc 😉

I guess I should always read the first post.
Yikes! It's all this darn excitement coming from out of nowhere I guess . Let's call it a super twiddly deluxe Jeff echo.
