I must go and take a look, it was on the local news this evening. We have the largest Primark in the world and now Europe’s largest music shop.

It was on radio5 live this morning, is it a Canadian guy who owns it now? Good luck to him as we need a good old British name to succeed. Vinyl is still selling well (the number 1 single at the mo in the UK is OMD Electricity!!!!! ) with plenty of established artists releasing songs this can only be good news...

I must admit that I haven't got a turntable at the moment, I had one of those linear tracking tables for ages but it broke and I never replaced it. All my vinyl is tucked away in the loft....

The new HMV would be like a dream come true for me.
I went into my local store the other week and underestimated how excited I'd be. My local store isn't very local - it's 15 miles away so I don't get there very often but I was like a kid in a sweet shop: DVDs, vinyl (oh, so much vinyl! I don't think I've seen this much in my lifetime), CDs, DVDs, t-shirts, posters, books and even cassettes (the last new tape I bought was in 1997). I was running around the shop like a demented toddler in a ball pool.
Mostly these days I buy from Amazon and when I did venture into a HMV was disappointed at them for not stocking what I was after but now I just enjoy going into the shop and browsing. Also, I've found that many of the DVDs and CDs I wanted are cheaper in HMV than on Amazon!
I must say its absolutely glorious to walk into a music store to be greeted by a 12" picture you can see from afar rather than have to squint at tiny CD covers. I hope the new Brum HMV has "rooms" and seats. I have fond memories of the Manchester store's classical room.
HMV has had a lot of special edition coloured vinyl lately, I bought Queen's Jazz on milkshake pink last week, so when will they be selling some colourful ELO vinyl? I don't think I've seen any and EVERYBODY knows music sound better on coloured vinyl .

Unfortunately it's in a part of the city centre called Dale End, not a great rep if you know what I mean!
