While our leader is delighting us with selections from his excellent record collection (or, has he been taking a peek at mine... )…
...this came to my attention...
I've always loved this song - no one did it better than Soft Cell.
That clarinet...

There is a Soft Cell track coming up in one of the future rounds of the poll tremblinwilbury, it’s not Say Hello, Wave Goodbye though...

Love this song, didn't they do an updated version which wasn't anywhere near as good?

SHWG is a great track along with Bedsitter,Where The Heart Is and The Night. Marc wasn't the strongest of singers but he was an entertaining chap to say the least....

One of the strangest collaborations was Marc and Gene Pitney with 'Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart' a number one here back in '89.

One of the strangest collaborations was Marc and Gene Pitney with 'Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart' a number one here back in '89. I like that song. Or at least I did as a kid when I was given a old 'Greatest Hits of 1989' double cassette. It also contained some Rick Astley so even now I struggle not to think of Marc when I see Rick or vice versa.
Speaking of Marc, I don't know if I mentioned it before but a while ago I heard him on the radio www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b093hwq2 speaking of working with Mike Stevens. Mike apparently encouraged Marc to record the song 'How Can I Be Sure' even though Marc hadn't planned to. It's good to know Mike makes a habit of badgering old music heroes into action!
