I imagine Jeff is like Neil Young in regards to the amount of pre recorded material (un released) he is sitting on. According to I think Tom Petty he just records at home all day long!!!!! Can youIimagine the spools of absolute candy that are recorded and the master has decided not to release....on a whim? My mouth waters in anticipation of what could be.....with the release of the outtakes/rare and un released material over the past 10 years I have amassed days off from my then job to sit at home and listen in like a teenager listening to Elvis for the first time in the 50's! This hunger has not nor ever will be satisfied. ....so roll on the crappy lil outtakes and rare....they fill my ELO days more now than any "hit"....

Open Your Eyes - Very Idle Race. O So Lonely - Perfect for ELO 2. Give Me Fever - Eldorado could have had this. Supersonic - Would suit A New World Record well.
All great sounding tracks but even though I'd like to hear better versions I can't imagine a modern reworking would benefit them.

Again, "O So Lonely" is now my jam. I think its excellent, says a lot about an artist whos beat-up demos are still masterpieces. Its so intriguing hearing unreleased material, like finding treasure. Literally.
First Days of September is excellent, Indian Queen is great too. Oh So Lonely takes the cake though! I am sure this is "Like a Rat Up a Drain".

It seems to be the one which has received less love from the users' reviews so far, yet for this ears it's the best one of the bunch (at least till this moment... you know opinions shift with time). It's really original, a bit queer with that mysterious verse... it's fantastic. I don't get how Jeff didn't use it for any of his albums.

Hey everybody, Dylan here, just joined the forum! Nathan James stated he sang vocals on "Open Your Eyes", but if so he sounds JUST like Jeff. These are some pretty interesting outtakes, and I don't doubt his involvement but it makes you wonder just how much is floating around. I find these older "record producers" or retired fellas who come out of hiding after years of not being in the business, like to put Jeff's shit on blast on youtube (as a result of this I have found at least 6 or 7 unique studio recordings, these included, on youtube; usually they are taken down after sometime so grab the audio while you can). Not complaining, these songs are excellent. "Like a Rat/Oh so Lonely" has a great melody, and "Supersonic" is just plain trippy. But again makes you wonder what is really out there; blow Rob Caigers lost archived material, it's all about these lost recordings these old businessmen have, for all we know there could be TONS of outtakes and jams we don't know about (Terd Behrgeler? Intro to Biggest Dildo? Open Your Eyes?) Dylan...did you ever find Billy The Ballerina?

Hey all, With these being the latest tracks to listen to. Apart from any bonus tracks on various releases over the years. It's nice to hear some early to mid era rarities from ELO. Open Your Eyes - sounds like an Idle Race type tune (which makes sense because it's the oldest of the bunch) I can't help but hear the Dreaming Of 4000 guitar riff in Supersonic but it isn't bad. I just wish these were better quality but "Hey It's the best I've ever heard." Beggars can't be choosers. And it was a pleasant surprise that I think most lovers of Jeff's music did not think they might ever hear. I personally had lost hope of hearing but just reading about some of these tunes. But it does sound very much like Jeff in parts. Reminds me of the Brian Hyland self titled album produced in 1970 by Del Shannon. It sounds like Del singing at times on that record. So I guess if Jeff sees this guy Nathan James singing and realises that his voice is quite similar. He could get him to cut demos like these for other bands perhaps? It just makes me wonder why though? Hmmm back to thinking about it all and try to make some sense of it all. I wonder how the JL camp feels about these tracks coming to Light? tee hee I made a funny. Cheers Al F Ottawa Canada

Nathan previously spoke of possibly remaking Supersonic, but this newly uploaded version is clearly the original recording, only copied from a less damaged tape source. While it's still not quite CD quality, the improvement is impossible to ignore. Here's the link:

Have you got that in FLAC, IvanDSM? I didn't save the remaster in FLAC because it would be useless, since the source audio from Nathan's video is 128kbps AAC (or was it 160kbps Opus?). Since it was a lossy source with some quality degradation, FLAC wouldn't be of much use, so I made a 320kbps MP3. Trust me, if there was a lossless source for this, I would surely have made it in FLAC!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I hadn't heard these songs for a few years but came across them again recently and I'm certain I can hear Jeff's voice in several of the tracks, maybe I'm just getting old and my hearing is going but it really does sound like Jeff, particularly the backing vocals in Supersonic and Give Me Fever, is it just me or can does anyone else think that as well and did anyone ever get to the bottom of what the story was with Nathan James and Jeff?

Maybe this Nathan guy is a JL soundalike. With the advancement of AI, I'm sure those songs could be rendered to sound exactly like ELO from that era.
