Hang on, all of a sudden when I click the link above I'm taken back to the thread?? Yeah, monsieur Nicholas is tricky like that. You should have been around that one time when he provided a link that lead to a porno site... Anyway, thanks, Nick. I'll be sure to visit the site and give the tracks a listen.

Heard them. I've got the first impressions, but I will differ my opinions till I have listened to them many times.

We've been hearing about "Supersonic", and "Give Me Fever", for years. Good to finally hear these tracks!
First impressions....
"Open Your Eyes"- Very Idle Race-y. Typically catchy Jeff Lynne song.
"O So Lonely"- Not bad, but doesn't have the great hooks of a usual Jeff Lynne song.
"Give Me Fever" - It almost sounds like a Madness meets Roy Wood!
"Supersonic" - Bad sound quality, but there's an interesting song in there, somewhere. Great chorus, and I love the moog bass.

"Give Me Fever" ** 1/2
"Supersonic" ** 1/2
"Open Your Eyes" ** 1/2
"O So Lonely" **
It's hard to rate these.

It's too bad Supersonic is in such bad quality. It sounds like a pretty cool song...

Although the quality of these certainly isn't what I'd expect from those Abbey Road mastered CDR acetates that surfaced a few years back, at least three of these tracks appear to match documented highlights of the mythical Trojan Tapes Session set:
Open Your Eyes is the only song I've never seen mention of before, though I can quite easily imagine Jeff singing this one in a guide vocal form. As for O So Lonely, could this be a slightly mis-titled Oh So Lovely (AKA Like A Rat Up A Drain)? Once described as sounding just like Baby I Apologise, it definitely fits... On the other hand, I do hear "lonely" as opposed to "lovely."
Next, we have Give Me Fever - definitely a genuine outtake from this period, only presented under a less controversial name compared to what Rob Caiger found on the original tape box - in an alternate version along with the Supersonic theme, which is a truly lost gem from ELO at its commercial peak.
Considering two mixes of each were listed on those CDRs, it's possible someone located Nathan James* and gave him copies, or could it be that he was the one who originally bought these for personal reasons? Either way, if superior quality sources exist it would be great for someone to share them now, as their use as a bargaining chip must surely have expired now.
Maybe the excuse of Jeff not wanting these released until an expanded reissue of Eldorado was on the cards is just a way to hide the fact no better quality copies are in his possession? There's no way I can now buy the official story these compositions are best suited to a remaster of 1974 era material, especially not when Supersonic was recorded almost three years later!
*How come we've never heard any connection between this guy and Jeff/ELO before? I suspect that Robert Porter's got a lot of work ahead of him to add these four tracks to his database.

Hey everybody, Dylan here, just joined the forum!
Nathan James stated he sang vocals on "Open Your Eyes", but if so he sounds JUST like Jeff. These are some pretty interesting outtakes, and I don't doubt his involvement but it makes you wonder just how much is floating around. I find these older "record producers" or retired fellas who come out of hiding after years of not being in the business, like to put Jeff's shit on blast on youtube (as a result of this I have found at least 6 or 7 unique studio recordings, these included, on youtube; usually they are taken down after sometime so grab the audio while you can). Not complaining, these songs are excellent. "Like a Rat/Oh so Lonely" has a great melody, and "Supersonic" is just plain trippy. But again makes you wonder what is really out there; blow Rob Caigers lost archived material, it's all about these lost recordings these old businessmen have, for all we know there could be TONS of outtakes and jams we don't know about (Terd Behrgeler? Intro to Biggest Dildo? Open Your Eyes?)

Most likely he has forgotten it exists at all?! It wouldn't surprise me if he goes alllegal on the rights of those track now. Supersonic has a whacky buzz on it like "Goin down to Rio" or something like that...

Jeff definitely knows about Supersonic, Give Me Fever and the other unreleased material as he was played those mythical Abbey Road mastered CDR acetates so he could select the bonus content for each ELO album's reissue back in 2001 (or at least those not delayed*), though based on that eBay auction quite a few of these have yet to surface, including the one for Secret Messages that would presumably have featured a pristine quality copy of Beatles Forever, since they were transferred directly from all of the DAT tapes Rob Caiger personally compiled based on whatever he could find in the vaults.
By the way, "Terd Berhgeler + Jam" is the name on the actual tape box for what later officially surfaced as Everyone's Born To Die, with the full-length version containing a section that can only be found on the initial 2003 version of ELO 2. Additionally, the bizarrely titled "Intro To Biggest Dildo" was first noted by fans on a disc including two mixes of Roll Over Beethoven. Due to its length, this was either that particular song's opening or the unused instrumental intended to open its parent album, heard during 1973 era live shows and later hidden on the Harvest Showdown compilation in its studio guise.
*Supposedly, once they'd listened through all of the Abbey Road CDRs, Rob asked Jeff if he owned anything further that could be considered for the remasters, looking into his personal tape archive and finding a wealth of songs he'd never finished, such as Surrender and Latitude 88 North, leading to a significant delay in later titles. Also, it's possible some of the different mixes from the Face The Music and A New World Record sessions come from this source, as I seem to recall once reading that quite a few had to be transferred from acetates or safety tapes - maybe Jeff really does keep them under his bed?
Back on the subject of a theoretical Secret Messages CDR for a moment longer, I'm willing to bet the original, pre-Flashback 1982/3 vintage takes of "Ballbuster" (Grieg's Piano Concerto In A Minor), Tears In Your Life, Helpless and Who's That? were on such a disc. Eldorado's treasures were probably known alternate mixes of album tracks such as Mister Kingdom rather than Indian Queen, which again came from one of Jeff's own demo tapes. As for Discovery and Time, I'm curious to know what else from that period exists, including the mysterious Sad Affair...
For those who are not aware, someone claiming to have worked on Time once mentioned a 1981 outtake using this working title, which Jeff had previously applied to quite a few tracks during the Out Of The Blue period. Furthermore, it's been established that ELO briefly recorded in Los Angeles with Bill Bottrell for the first time, resulting in the last minute addition of Hold On Tight to the album (plus an attempt at The Way Life's Meant To Be), despite its credits only explicitly naming Mack at Musicland in Munich as being responsible for engineering these recordings.

I wouldn't mind hearing Jeff update these songs, and do them for his new album.
