Really? Apple Pie! well there's some support for eloneen's dessert driven dream theory. I'm afraid one week won't be enough in these Covid times. if you want to Hold on Tight to Your Dreams, I'd suggest eating a slice of the Apple Pie once a week in time with each quarter of the lunar cycle. Consume warm an hour before bed and accompany with a couple of ELO songs, the older the better as there is strange magic in those old bangers. Now if concerts resume and you've still not received a package from Jeff, there's one more thing you can try. Send off 500 quid to your local ticket agent for the VIP package. Tell 'em Horace sent you and maybe they'll throw in the wobbly shield badge. LOL pleasant dreams

The Electric Animal Orchestra once introduced a "Fred"-type character into their live show.

Maybe we should all follow these suggestions. What's the worst that can happen? At best we'll get ELO packages and support the apple pie industry, at worst we'll be running around lemon trees in moonlight brandishing pies while chanting the lyrics to 'The Battle of Marston Moor (July 2nd 1644)' like lunatics.

a very random post, but one that shows how ELO can relate to anything Mrs Orioles and I started watching an old mini-series that was on around the same time that Xanadu was in theaters - "Shogun"
the DVD's have an option to show sub-titles but I laughed out loud when I saw that the sub-titles are for the English dialog rather than the Japanese
I Googled it and sure enough the writer (James Clavell) wanted the TV audience to appreciate the "protaganist's feeling of helplessness" at being in a strange land. The main character is an English pilot for a Dutch trading ship that crashes on a reef in Japan in the year 1600
a Jeff song comes to mind:
Well, I came a long way to be here today And I left you so long on this avenue And here I stand, in the strangest land Not knowing what to say or do As I gaze around at these strangers in town I guess the only stranger is me And I wonder (yes, I wonder), yes, I wonder (oh, I wonder) Is this the way life's meant to be?

Coincidentally, I'm reading this while watching another Richard Chamberlain film on TV, The Man in the Iron Mask. That's pretty random.
Shogun always goes down well in our house but I don't like all the rolling heads.
RC looks to me like the kind of man who would appreciate ELO. He looks like an Eldorado fan to me.

"Did you see him ride? Did you see the Tour? Does his lap mean more than it did before?" There's even a reference to the best ELO album on the window!

This is amazing! Maybe the stores address? The store's at No. 146 in the avenue, apparently. So maybe the owner is an ELO fan? (Unless it was its previous address, and they've just kept the name, or something like that.)
