Ha! Don't get me started. As much as I appreciate modern day conveniences, the longer I live, the more selfishly convinced I am that this "soul" or personality or hunk of meat was born in the wrong place and at the wrong time in history... Just being curious: which place and time in history do you think would have been the right one for you? Do you see yourself under a heavy armour, drawing a sword along with many other noblemen in an expedition to the Middle East to recover some sacred land? Or sailing in a caravel to conquer far away, new unexplored territories? Just be glad someone such as myself doesn't have any political power or access to some sort of big, red Easy Button®. Yeah, I'm glad, you can be sure... more still when it is likely that one of those red Easy Buttons® would have a label downwards reading, without any further division, "Latin America". And talking about futbol, no, it doesn't relieve any of life's stresses. If anything, it adds one more source of stress to daily life, above all when we are talking about the World Cup. Much has been discussed about making it more often, but I think all the dramatism it has comes from knowing that if you want revenge you will only have it in 4 years time. The US were victims of that pressure when they missed an incredible chance right under the Belgian goal in the very last minute and then lost the game 2-1 in overtime. And yeah, at least one has that futile consolation that the champions were from the land of my ancestors, as if it mattered much...

Kansas, circa 1900... the peak of this glorious lifetime would involve pretending to be a bearded lady and spinning plates on sticks for a traveling circus.
You ask questions which one does not have well thought out and articulate answers to... although the examples you gave would indicate hostility toward the semi-serious notion. Yeah, I'm glad, you can be sure... more still when it is likely that one of those red Easy Buttons® would have a label downwards reading, without any further division, "Latin America". You assume too much. Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay would remain untouched. As for some of the rest: their governments would be wise to expect and receive awkwardly familiar visitors or "new" residents.
... and perhaps the emoticon tacked onto the end of the previous sentence doesn't negate the tackiness of it.

Hahaha, well, you are an ambitious guy, Rob, but I bet you would have had it difficult getting the job. It is well known that, even to these days, women from the central Great Plains have an exuberant amount of facial hair, for good or bad. You ask questions which one does not have well thought out and articulate answers to... although the examples you gave would indicate hostility toward the semi-serious notion. No, wrong assumption, my friend. Each one is entitled to consider as he likes -at least in this matter... (caresses red button)- and I just wanted to know. If you assure you were born at the wrong time and place, one has to assume that, as opposed to it, there has to be one time and place which you consider to be the right one; otherwise, how would you be convinced this is the wrong one? Isn't this reasoning logical? Also, the fact that this kind of questions usually trigger some amusing answer is a temptation to make them at any moment.

Hi everyone! I'm Eloise and I've been a fan of the ELO since....I'm not sure when. Officially since 1981 when I bought 'Out of the Blue'. I've been a member of the ELO message board since 2001. Thank you to Horace Wimp for bringing the message board back! I've been lurking but, to answer one comment, yes, my avatar was a monkey. Thanks for remembering.

Welcome back, Eloise! And thanks for the answer, it was me who made the question (though I feel a bit disillusioned now, as I liked to think it was a real monkey sitting in a computer who was typing those messages).

Thank you, all! Helmut, I'm thinking about using a different avatar. You wouldn't be terribly disappointed, would you? If I change it, you have my blessing to picture a monkey sitting at a computer typing away.

Ok I've been Loitering enough. Hi everyone I'm Nick I'm 50 from Essex (UK) I've been into ELO since 1977 when I encouraged my brother to buy Out of the Blue as I'd run out of pocket money, telling him that he'd love it ( he did but not as much as me). I then nicked it off him and have still got that original copy. I then went through all the back catalogue and got all that too mostly 2nd hand from a mates brother.Been to see the band 3 times now '81,'86 and yesterday.
