Just found out that one of my favourite singers has died,Pete Shelley who was the lead singer of The Buzzcocks passed on aged only 63. They were immensely important in the early days of punk and new wave. All their hits were 3 minute masterpieces and will live on forever....

Oh no, that's no age at all, such sad news. You're spot on about their perfect slices of pop Timeblue and I mourn his passing with you.

I once had a question regarding a concert that The Buzzcocks did in the early 90s so I contacted a Buzzcocks forum about it and lo and behold, Pete himself answered and gave me a complete and interesting answer! Lovely bloke in real life too apparently,he will be sadly missed.....

Great tweet from Danny Baker:
Just heard about Pete Shelley. A great man. He tried to write pure punk, he really did, but out came perfect pop. Recall dim punks saying Buzzcocks were 'too good sounding' which was meant to be a bad thing. They were so, so good. A brilliant talent, a brilliant noise. Forever.

This is such sad news. I love Pete and the Buzzcocks. One of my prized vinyls is the Homosapien LP, I like it because it sounds a long way from the Buzzcock's sound and not many punk groups managed to be so different.
But my favourite thing that Pete ever created was the Tour de France theme tune -
