uh, so it's not really about the massive body of work, the technical excellence, the sonic creativity, the innovation, how emotionally moving the songs are, ...

seems like it would be near impossible to decide which songs are more important culturally
music is so subjective and there are so many types of music and so many cultures

I think we're going to have to be satisfied with Jeff's Rock HOF induction.
it could be a long wait on the songwriting HOF

Missy Elliott has been around for a while and was/is a huge rap star, probably the most successful female rapper/hip-hop performer so far. She's won several Grammy awards. I can't say I'm familiar with a lot of her work, but I have a certain respect for women like her who could be so successful in the very macho world of 90s hip-hop on the basis of her work.
