driving in this morning, the DJ played a song by a band that I had never heard of.
"Car seat headrest"
What the hell - first object they saw driving over to their first gig? As always, Wikipedia had the answer << Will Toledo chose the name "Car Seat Headrest" as he would often record the vocals to his early albums in the back seat of his car for privacy.[3] While his production has gradually become less lo-fi, Toledo still remains an effective example of the DIY ethic. >>
OK Will, but how about just "Headrest"?
I'm sure there are even worse names out there. Chime in with your favorite bad band name.

Squirrel Nut Zippers. It's a jazz band. Found out about them through a friend. Talented.

I can think of several, but there's one for me that is indisputable #1:
The Band.
Talk about being out of ideas...

I think the "Butthole Surfers" get my vote for worst band name... Just, why? I know it's probably difficult to come up with something original, but I feel like that is just unnecessary.

I thought of
Half Man Half Biscuit Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly and Lawnmower Deth
but these are actually quite cool and not bad names at all so massive fail for me

Not quite the same thing but back in the 70's there was a singer called Randy Vanwarmer! (This name is funnnier in the UK than the US as "Randy" has a rather different meaning and is not a common name.)

How about Chumbawamba?
My claim to fame is me and three mates in Brussels in November 1997. The Republic were in town for the very last qualifying match against Belgium for the following year's World Cup in France. We were checking into our hotel when we bumped into one of the group's roadies. "Aw, if I'd know about the match, I'd have gone!"
As for the football... All square at 1-1 after the first leg. We went down 2-1 in the second. Didn't matter. We had a great time in Brussels. Lovely city and lovely people.

I've got a few silly names to toss into the ring: - King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
- twenty one pilots
- iglooghost
- D.R.A.M. (stands for "Does Real-Ass Music")
On the flip side, here are some band names I quite like: - The Good, The Bad, & The Queen
- Public Access T.V.
- The Explorers' Club
- King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
