super interview, wish it had been a lot longer. Seems like a really clever musician.

It's nice to hear that Donovan's put so much effort into getting the ELO sound just right. It makes you realise that the sound just doesn't appear by magic.

Great article. I love Donovan - he's a great drummer. (I love Bev as well by the way). Anyway, when I was young I wanted to take up the drums. My parents kiboshed it because it would have been too noisy. I did learn to play the guitar and I'm not bad. But I'd always wanted to play drums. Anyway I got a job, got married, got a mortgage and became a contented married man. But then two years ago I had a serious illness (sepsis). When I recovered I thought 'sod it'. I might be 50 odd years old but I've always wanted to play the drums and the bloody drums I'm going to damned well play. So I bought a drum kit. I sent Donovan a pm on Twitter and he gave me some very good and practical private advice. Not many would do that. Lovely guy. And I can actually play the things now.

Seems like a solid dude, along with being a great drummer.
