Unfortunately, like many newspapers online, the Post has a paywall. Being on the other side of the 'pond', I'm sure that I can find out what was No. 1 (note, no hash symbol over here ) both in Ireland and in the UK.
I'll report back...

Reporting back…
I’m not sure which of the first two was number 1 on my 14th birthday. Doesn’t really matter – they’re both fine songs.
IRELAND I need you – Joe Dolan Nobody Does It Better – Carly Simon
UK Way Down – Elvis Presley
US I Just Want To Be Your Everything – Andy Gibb
I wonder what any of these say about me...?
I wish I'd been born a few weeks earlier, because the number 1 in Ireland would've been "When Benji Wrapped his Tractor Round the Old Oak Tree", by Brendan Grace

Silver Lady by David Soul was number one in the UK on my 14th Birthday. You Light Up My Life by Debby Boone in the USA, Sorry I'm a Lady by Baccara in Germany, I Feel Love by Donna Summer in Australia and guess what in Canada, Telephone Line by a band called ELO. www.thisdayinmusic.com/birthdayno1

Unfortunately the UK #1 single on my 14th birthday was pretty dire. And the US and Canada equivalents weren't much better. Germany let me down as well, sigh.
So I had to look further afield... and in New Zealand, the #1 on that particular date was "Howzat!" by Sherbet.
That'll do me. Thanks, Kiwis!

So, Queen of the Limericks (as opposed to Queen of Limerick ), don't keep us in suspenders... UK No 1 = ? US = ? Canada = ? Germany = ? Nothing can be THAT bad - unless it's Joe Dolce's " Shaddap You Face" smileys-whistling-823718

Nothing can be THAT bad - unless it's Joe Dolce's " Shaddap You Face" "Now, spill the beans, Vlogdance," you say, "What was number one in the UK? "Canada and US...?" You will just have to guess - I'm not giving the details away!

UK no. 1 on my 14th birthday was Kate Bush, Wuthering Heights. In fact it was one of my birthday presents (thanks, Auntie Joyce!) Very happy to be associated with this total treasure

Private Eyes by Hall & Oates....i got nothin'.... I love Hall and Oates, but that's definitely not their best song, even though it's a fun one.

Mine was The Bee Gees' "Love You Inside and Out," #1 in the US when I turned 14. I love the Bee Gees, but I've never liked that song very much. I had forgotten it, actually. Their earlier stuff, including the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, was much better IMO.

The WP didn't work for me, so I tried H W's. 1972. US - "I'll Take You There" Staple Singers. I'll take that! UK - "Metal Guru" T Rex. Yup, that works.

Very happy to be associated with this total treasure Auntie Joyce has great taste, Uno bach. Did the two of you used to do a bit of Kate fangirling together, by any chance...? (Now that is one cool teenager. You can already see the devastating ninja gaze.)

Heh! Aunty Joyce wasn't a fan, she asked me what I wanted and I placed the order. She and my mum were madly into John Hanson, who nobody has ever heard of these days, he used to sing in musicals like The Student Prince and The Desert Song. Yep, nobody has heard of them either, but I knew them off by heart as she never stopped playing them.
Sigh, I used to dream of hair like that, instead I had a frizzy perm which was kind of orange due to enthusiastic application of henna. Gorgeous, I was....
