If it wasn't for the Wilburys I wouldn't have fallen for Jeff. It's as simple as that. I can't believe its 30 years ago, it seems so recent. You were one of the many people to whom Jeff was "the other guy", but as opposed to 97% of them, you were curious enough to investigate what The Other Guy had done in his career.

It was less than "the other guy", he might as well have been invisible. I used to think I'd done well to even remember Jeff's name. I didn't think he was "cool" enough to take any notice of. It was only because of the other lads that I even watched the MBS docu but I'm so glad I did. Jeff was so much more that I'd expected. Thank you Roy and Tom!

Then you had people who didn't know of, or forgotten Roy. And, possibly Dylan.

I suppose Bob was the other guy for me though I knew very well who he was. I already had some of his music but didn't fully appreciate his genius. The Wibury's inspired me to give him another listen. As for being cool, in my opinion Jeff is the coolest dude ever.

Quite pricey for a 62 page book, maybe fan made and self-published?

Quite pricey for a 62 page book, maybe fan made and self-published? My book, Five Legends, Five Guitars is "Fan made and self-published," but also meticulously researched by a PhD (yes, I have a PhD), and professionally edited. Don't turn your nose up at every self-published work. ShardEnder may go that route as well, as I understand the deal with 33 1/3 may have fallen through from one of the recent posts. Granted, my book has a dose of fiction to make it a fun read, but it's 80% fact with pages and pages of references. I take this disrespect toward self-published authors quite personally, and it explains why no one has responded to my posts about the publication of my book on 12-17-18. I offered free pdfs in return for a review on Amazon or Goodreads, and no one took me up on it. Won't it be a surprise if it's a well-written, enjoyable book?

Putting cut-and-paste photos from the web is the best way for any author, self-published or not, to get sued. I spent many thankless hours contacting photographers and authors who never answered me, and refrained from using many photos I wanted to use in my book.

BSJ, is that your attitude toward all self-published books now? More authors are going this route as fewer publishing houses offer promotion for books. If we have to promote our own work, we may as well take advantage of the higher percentage profit self-publishing offers. Most books on Amazon have a "Look Inside" feature that allow you to examine at least part of the contents before you buy. You can also return books to Amazon, even ebooks, if you are disappointed with the purchase.

I'm sorry if you took my comment personally, it certainly wasn't directed at you and your book was the last thing on my mind when I posted it. The book we were discussing reminded me of a particularly bad ELO publication I bought about 30 years ago from an advert in the back of Sounds, when it turned up it really was just various copies of reviews and photos taken from proper publications and cobbled together.
I have been a member of and contributor to various Muse based fan fiction sites and have very often found that the people who write there could blow a lot of published authors out of the water. One or two of them have in fact self published and I've cheered them on all the way, they deserve to be read more widely and I admire and respect their talent.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't think you were thinking about my book when you made the comment. I don't believe you are thinking about my book at all. Just joking. I did overpersonalize your remarks because I've put two years and quite a bit of money into this book to bring it to a professional level. Then I see posts denigrating self-publishers on my favorite ELO bulletin board. How could I not become defensive? Attachment Deleted I'm over it, and having a wonderful time writing my third novel. The Secret Messages double album (and the single version for that matter) contains secret messages we have not heretofore dreamed of. My goal is to decode them and reveal them in the book(s).
