I Googled "Salton Sea" because I wanted to see pictures of the place where the photo shoot for Armchair Theatre took place. A blog about tourism in the ghost towns of the days of tourism past came up. And look at this picture. Could it be the same chair from 28 years ago? Attachment Deleted

StrangeMagic How interesting! Hmmm...Looks to me like the shape of the chair back is different, but it's a cool thought!

coincidentally, there's a new song out called "Salton Sea" by Josh Rouse he's no Jeff Lynne, but the song has a nice Summery tone - worth a listen

I seem to recall that Jeff wanted the chair and has it. Doesn't look like the chair to me.

I seem to recall that Jeff wanted the chair and has it. Doesn't look like the chair to me. The chair on the front of the album looks like it had already been sitting out in the elements for a few years. Inspect the bottom of it. The top of the chair I posted has been eaten away by the elements. It would have caved in and lost its shape, appearing narrower. Of course, the wood has come off the arms years ago. Blow up the picture I posted and look at the jacquard pattern on the upholstery. I think it's the same chair.

I can see what you are saying StrangeMagic but I can’t say I’m convinced. The back just doesn’t seem right to me or the rolls on the arms.

I always thought the chair was sitting in front of a screen with the sea in the back ground.

Off to check out the brocade pattern. You're starting to convince me StrangeMagic

I checked out the brocade and I don't think it's the same StrangeMagic which makes me sad because I want it to be the same chair. Even if it's not the same chair it's a really cool coincidence.

With Jeff known for being environmentally friendly it would be very poor form if they'd just left the chair there after they'd finished the photo shoot. I doubt Jeff himself would be happy about it.

I googled Salton Sea and found a picture of the sand castle in the shape of Bev which Jeff also made while getting ready for the photo shoot.

N'aww, what a shame it's not the same chair, it would be like the final scene in Planet of the Apes.
On the other hand, I agree it would be horribly un-environmental if it had been abandoned there all this time
