The Thomson Twins were great and slightly different to the norm back in the 80s.
RIP Michael White

Just looked on Wikipedia and there is no mention of him in the band's personnel history....

I suspect (as some have already speculated on Steve Hoffman forum) that he managed to p*ss off senior figures in the band and has been subsequently written out of it's history (gee I don't know, has that ever happened to anyone else in a band?). Among the many dozens of books written by Micheal White was a account of his time in the band. Here's a short exert from another publication of his about that time : "Even so, Dad was the most generous person I ever knew. During a particularly bad episode in my pursuit of the rock dream, I had been literally penniless and I needed money fast to get on a plane to New York. I had been touring with the Thompson Twins and left the band when I learned Janet, my girlfriend of seven years, had fallen in love with the manager. She had gone onto the US leg of the tour and promptly had a nervous breakdown. The first I knew of it was when her father called me to say Janet had painted herself red and had been about to throw herself off the top floor of the Thompson Twins' New York hotel when she was rescued and committed to a psychiatric hospital in the Bronx. I knew I had to get on the first plane over there." White was also very fond of non-de-plumes - writing books under several names and writing/recording music under the name "Unknown Artist". Hope that helps Timeblue ....

I was watching the Olympic women's speed skating events with my son tonight and saw for the first time the new Gap TV commercial featuring a remix of "Hold Me Now" by SZA and Metro Boomin', featuring some young dancers of different shapes and sizes and cultures. I thought it was cute, but it shocked me, since I hadn't heard the song in so long and had just learned of Michael White's death today.
