I saw that Foreigner is currently on tour, and they will be coming to our area in July, and playing the same venue where I saw Chicago and the Doobie Brothers last summer. I can get tickets (actual seats, not lawn tickets!!) for $24 each from Ticketmaster, in a similar location to where we were for the concert we went to last summer.
I liked Foreigner a lot when I was a teenager and I've never been to one of their shows, but for that price, it might be worth giving it a try. Hubby might need a little convincing, though. We've got some summer family travel/fun plans in the works and I'm trying to figure out which dates to work around.
Anyone been to see them recently? Lou Gramm is a high energy guy, but he has been very ill in recent years.
They have lots of dates in the US, some in the UK, and across Europe, even a show in Tel Aviv. Wow!

Why not? You like them. Fun cheap date night. A summer outside show. What's not to like?

The thing is that we've got some tentative July 4th week family plans that involve a number of other family members out of town, so I'm trying to decide how much I want to lobby for the stay-in-town-and-go-to-Foreigner-concert plan, which would involve changing some of this other stuff, when Hubby really doesn't care for Foreigner all that much, etc... Just want to know if anyone has been and can vouch for the show...

Have no clue about this band. From the name I feel your pain. This cannot be a fair trade.

Timeblue I never heard of them until I looked it up just now. Oh boy! (ha ha) Have fun! I've been talking with my youngest brother about a big family get together in DC (the area where he lives) with the extended family for the July 4th holiday...so I either need to just keep the plan we started or I need to backtrack right away and dig in my heels about the concert here, that's all. I want Hubby on my side if I do. He carries major clout with my family. It's almost magical.

Just read more on the website and found out that Lou Gramm is not with the band on the tour. For me, no Foreigner without Lou. Apparently there was only a temporary reunion of the original band in 2017. Never mind. No dilemma here. No Foreigner concert for me. Party is on with the family for July 4th this summer! Have a good time at the Boyzone concert Timeblue ! Maybe there's some other band that Mrs. T. likes nearly as much that you can get more enthusiastic about...?

A shame that Mick Jones is the only original member still in the band, but you never know,Lou might pop up again for a reunion...

I don't like them so much that I would go to see them without Lou Gramm, even for just $24, especially when there are possible scheduling conflicts. Not the same.
With most of the original members missing, I know it wouldn't technically be a tribute band, but it would almost feel like it. And for me to pay to go to a tribute concert, it would have to be an ELO tribute band or a band whose music I like, but to whom I don't feel much of an attachment, if that makes any sense.

You could argue that Foreigner are similar to ELO in the fact that the only original member left in the group is the singer, songwriter and producer.....

But Lou Gramm is THE voice of Foreigner, in my opinion. I love his voice! Did anyone else sing lead on any of their singles?

I'm sure you can grin and bear it for a couple of hours, you may be the only man there, just enjoy the experience.

Suck it up, Timeblue, because Jeff will probably tour a lot more in future than Boyzone, who are probably only doing a one-off for the money
