I see Ringo Starr is to get a Knighthood according to the Sunday papers, surely it is Jeff's turn to get something this year, a fitting celebration for his 70th birthday.

Will the Queen say Sir Ringo or Sir Richard? And, who's going to kiss who's rings!

Taken long enough to honour Ringo, were John and George nominated but refused? I can imagine it.

Apart from music... I enjoyed the response from Michael Morpurgo, the author who's been awarded a knighthood. Of his many books, the best-known and most popular is War Horse, later a play and then a film. The new Sir Michael said of his honour: "There never was a knight who owed so much to his horse as this one."

As for Ringo, someone on Twitter suggested today's newspapers should carry the headline: "Drummer gets gong".

I haven't read the book yet (some people think that the film is too sentimental) but I liked the film and hoping to see the play sometime.

Sentimental stuff, you are right, but far from making me cry (well, then again I'm a feeling-less son of a bitch who didn't even cry when Skar killed Mufasa). The best thing about "War Horse" in my opinion is that it shows a good share of the gorgeous English countryside. And, has to be noted, the protagonist is probably the most handsome male actor to ever be caught by a camera. Credit where credit is due.

It also tells the story from both sides, when the horse was captured by the Germans after the ill fated cavalry charge (Tom Hiddlestone didn't make it I'm afraid ladies....)

By the way, what's the origin of the surname Morpurgo? Doesn't sound to be English at all...

The new Sir Michael said of his honour: "There never was a knight who owed so much to his horse as this one." I like War Horse and would love to see the stage show for the puppets. I've read the book and seen the film but I prefer the book especially because I can read it quicker than the film takes to watch! I heard MM on the radio saying that he didn't have the right name for a knight, that he should be called Lancelot or something, but Sir Michael is noble enough I think.
Usually the "best" knights (and dames) I feel are those where you can't believe they haven't been honoured already. MM I imagined was already a Sir and Ringo definitely should have been long ago. Its a shame Barry is the only Gibb to be honoured though.
Maybe one day Jeff.... lets just wait until June and see what's in the Birthday honours. At the very least an MBE should be going spare?
