Hey folks!
I was always absolutely fascinated with the mellotron intro from "Roll Over Beethoven", and I have decided to try and figure it out myself!
I think it's mostly correct. If any of you know what it was sampled from, that would be great; I have this feeling it was sampled from a Beethoven piece...
Anyways, link attached below! Cheers!

vinyldude Interesting! I never noticed a mellotron in ROB. ELO 2 is the ELO album I listen to the least. I'll have to give it a listen and pay attention for the mellotron.

Haven't listened to it for a while but from what I remember it sounds like you got it spot-on 😊

It is very quiet. It is right before the song busts out Beethoven's 5th, but I also believe it is only on certain versions i.e. the U.S. release of ELO II. I was always so fascinated with it due to how "out of place" it is with the rest of the album, how peculiar it sounds, and how strangely pretty it is for a soundbyte. It's inclusion might have been an accident.
I recorded this with my Yamaha keyboard while plugged into Garageband on my MacBook. The effects used are the "bassoon" preset as well as ample echo and reverb. I might sample this on the *ahem* "album" I'm in the process of 😂😂
