Great to see all the modern ways of promotion being used by/for Jeff. Facebook, Twitter, video/audio teasers, information sign ups etc.
It's been interesting seeing the build up of all this over the last three years.
Back in 2014 when Gary Barlow persuaded Jeff to play at Children in Need Rocks, I bet no one, including Team Jeff (if there was one aside from him & Craig Fruin),could imagine how things would progress.
Hyde Park, new album, UK/Europe tour, mini US tour, mini UK tour, Wembley or Bust, new music coming & a possible fuller US/UK/Europe tour (?)
And in-between, a number of guest appearances, special gigs, R&RHoF & other promotional activities.
Clearly the new deal with Sony/Columbia came with a significant promotional commitment from both them & Jeff.
When Long Wave was released I was just so pleased to hear something "new" from him but never in my wildest dreams did I think any of the above would happen.
A lot of people think he's a ginger (no offence), Willy waving, egotistical knob head but big credit to Chris Evans for persuading Jeff that he had a huge audience out there, that would soak all this up with huge smiles on their faces.
How long it will go on for who knows - I'm sure most of us thought the 2016 tour was it & then the four 2017 gigs........ but at the moment, Jeff is the gift that just keeps on giving.
As he approaches the milestone of his 70th birthday, he finally seems to be getting the exposure & recognition for his massive musical contribution over the last 50+ years.
I'm 53 & like many fell in love with ELO in 1976 after seeing Livin' Thing on Top of the Pops. I then found out that I knew a lot more of their music than I realised & that music above any other has played a significant part in my life.
Whatever the trials and tribulations of ELO "the band" over the years, I've unashamedly been a "Jeff is the man" fan.
Truly thankful for what he's given & giving us & whatever the future may bring.
It ain't a drag, it's Eldorado!
