This song is rapidly climbing into my all time top 10 of ELO choons. Coming from the abysmal film Xanadu it didn't feature too high with me early on but with Jeff now regularly singing it and all the flash dancing 'all over the world', it really makes me happy to hear it.

Timeblue I love it, too, even though I'm partial to the sad ballads in general. "All Over the World" is probably ELO's most fun tune and it's very danceable , even for people who have two left feet ---like me. It makes me smile even when I'm feeling grouchy. Last school year I played the flash mob video for my students when they were acting really grouchy one day, and it made them smile and whine a little less!

I've always loved this song! I'm glad that it's growing on ya, Timeblue. Does anybody know what Jeff changed the lyrics 'have a gay cup of tea' to? It's different now and I can't understand what's being said.

I must admit to having a new found liking of this song since he opened with it at Hyde Park. Always thought it was a good fun song but now it's associated with the goosebumps/tingles/tears of joy when Jeff stepped onto that stage it has a more profound impact when I hear it :-)

I've really grown to love All Over The World since Hyde Park too... I think the performance helped to expunge the imagery in my head of that horrible, cheesy Xanadu dance number which was what I had always thought of when I heard the song before. I think "I'm Alive" would have been a fitting opener too

I loved 'All Over The World' before I knew it was an ELO song. It's one of those tunes that keeps coming on the radio when you're in a shop or on some TV programme or in a movie. You hear the song and maybe sing along but are never sufficiently taking enough notice to wonder who the song is by. At least I wasn't. As soon as I commenced my ELO adventure and got to X for Xanadu and heard this familiar song, well, I just had a massive smile on my face and said something like "well I never! This Jeff character can't go wrong! He seems to have written every good song on the radio" .
'All Over The World' might not be a song you'd put in your Jeff top ten but while you're listening to it you think it's the best song ever written! No? It's just me then!

I love 'I'm Alive', it's a favourite of mine, but I don't think it's sufficiently "iconic" enough for Jeff to play. Maybe he could slip it in at the same slot as he played 'Xanadu' but would we be willing to sacrifice 'Xanadu'? I think it was jolly great that Jeff had played two tracks from Xanadu - for a flop movie it has a magical soundtrack. Not many people would proud to be associated with a film like that. It just goes to show that because Jeff actually tried his hardest he can never be embarrassed by any work he's done.

When I said "I'm Alive" would have been a good opener for Hyde Park I was thinking of Jeff singing "I'm Alive! I'm Alive..." Him being somewhat advanced in age and after being out of the spotlight for such a long time it would have been a great little joke for him to play.

I can't really rank my favorite ELO songs properly as I am too crazy about them on so many levels, but "All Over the World" is definitely a very strong favorite of mine. It brings me instant joy. I love Jeff's vocals in general, but there's something about it during the period of Discovery through Time. It had a very specific sound or perhaps the production-quality changed and basically, I swoon over many songs from that period, including in this track. So glad he's been playing it. I also agree that "I'm Alive" is amazing. Ditto about the vocals with that one, too.
