Parthenon Huxley has put out a photo album. While it's about his musical career, a big part of that has been with ELO Part II and the Orchestra. < The book starts with me and my first guitar (1964) and then photographically tells the musical story of the next 50 years. There is some editorial input about being in bands, addressing the music business, and so on, but really, it's pretty much people with guitars and funny haircuts traveling to fun places.> a bit pricey at $99, although it's cheaper than Jeff's book kind of reinforces Hux's position as "the poor man's Jeff Lynne" I will save my money for music instead of photos. www.parthenonhuxley.com/home-blog-email-signup/blog/this-is-the-book-available-now-in-p-hux-store

Listening to the repeat of Pick Of The Pops last night on R2 covering the top twenty of July 13th 1974. At 13, up popped Roy, (note, not Wizzard) with something called Goin' Down The Road! Unusual song, (that I'd never heard before), mixing Reggae, mandolins and bagpipes! Strange to think, if things had gone differently, it might have been an ELO track?

just bought tickets to see Parthenon Huxley Aug 23rd in Northern Virginia he's playing with his own loosely knit band, but it includes a keyboardist and a violinist the venue only holds about 200
the promo calls it "a kickass night of songs by P. Hux, ELO, Beatles and much more"
this event isn't with the Orchestra on the one hand, that means he won't be able to play ELO songs except the few that the band has rehearsed - and those might be covers that are quite different from the standard Jeff version but it frees him up to play his own songs and favorites from groups that he likes (Beatles, Badfinger, maybe even a Move tune)
should be a fun night

vlogdance - I like how he gives Baby Love more of a rock edge, but it's a little weird hearing it sung by a guy after being so used to the Supremes' version. I'm guessing he will play it since it's a fresh upload to his web page. 3 songs I'm hoping he does are Honey Sweet Baby, 10538 and Buddha, Buddha.

Just caught 'Curly' by The Move on Pick of the Pops while trying to figure out how to tune in for the new single. It's not one I'm familiar with, but I was like "hmm, this sounds like The Move"... feeling pretty smug that I was right.

That's the song that Bev refers to in his book as being dreadful and which sparked the beginning of the end for The Move, as it was. Carl left soon after replaced by Jeff. The "video" on YouTube is interesting, Bev has the same look on his face as Trevor Burton when playing Blackberry Way.

The Orchestra has released some new dates in 2020. 2 nights in a row - Atlantic City, NJ then Easton, PA I may try to take in one of those. They are going to Canada, Germany, and Los Angeles ... but not to Shard End. parthenonhuxley.com/shows

the Orchestra played at Disney World (Epcot) the last weekend before it shut down for Covid-19 but the next gig was supposed to be the On the Blue cruise that and seemingly every other concert event has been put on hold it's the right move - need to put all the classic rock guys and gals under strict quarantine for the next few weeks maybe Jeff will spend his time fiddling around in the studio and come out with a "Prodigal Songs" album ready for download onthebluecruise.com/important-coronavirus-update/

It seems that my Roy spotting skills are getting almost as good as my Jeff spotting skills... Passed it up in favor of my other finds for the day, though.
