Apparently I'm Mr Blue Sky! They can't have taken the Welsh origins into consideration.

Of course I'm DBMD.... The most pivotal song from an album where JL was at the height of his game; Where he gained the strength of character to declare that his band was not some freak 'crossover', but a REAL R&R entity.
'Bluesky' is JL at his most "up" pop best...
But 'DBMD' remains a triumph of defiant 'f-you' R&R (without straying into anything hard or nasty).
It remains a perfect example of the tightrope walk between rage, outrage, conformity and emotion - whilst never actually leaving the roots of pop/rock behind. Completely emotional whilst remaining controlled and directed; like an iron fist in a velvet glove.
I struggle to define just how perfect - and unrepeatable - it is.
A sad lesson to other artists; but imagine how desperately sad it must be for JL to realise that he will never do it again....
Being a parent, I can always be proud of what my children are or do or become
But being a composer who has produced such excellence; how depressing to realise that you may never do better.
I actually feel for him. (perhaps I've had 1 or 5 too many...).

I actually feel for him. I love how much you love DBMD babyzoomerI doubt Jeff thinks much about the song at all though. I'm sure to him it's just some little thing he came up with, a riff or two, some chords and then some lyrics he made up at the last second I also think he's moved on and is only revisiting ELO for the benefit of his fans, for the $$$ or to cement his legacy or all of the above. I think artists who remain vital change throughout their lives and don't find their earlier works very interesting at all, preferring to concentrate on their latest obsession.
