Jeff Lynne's Bluesky and DBMD etc have featured in countless movies, tv shows & ads, but JL also has composed or recorded quite a bit specifically for the 'sliver screen'.
'76 "All This & WWII". '80 "Xanadu" '84 "Electric Dreams" '91 "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves" '98 "Still Crazy" '13 "American Hustle"
I presume the he did the first one simply because he loved the Beatles. He poured enormous effort into Xanadu and it bombed - badly. Not his fault (at all - the music lives on & on); but the failure would certainly be enough to scare most composers away. JL is a tough & persistent bloke. Electric Dreams did moderately well; so nothing to complain about - but hardly Rogers & Hammerstein territory. I recently watched Robin Hood (I was busy being a dad in the 90's and didn't see it then) and I was struck by how monumentally bad the movie actually is. Not JL's fault. Still Crazy - well I suspect JL did it as a favour for a friend; it did ok but again no cigar. Hustle is a damn good movie - I would defy anyone not to be entertained (and perhaps shocked); JL's contribution is good but not 'make or break'.
He obviously wants to contribute to the medium; but I think the 'hit or miss' nature of the movie industry (along with the almost inevitable loss of product control) makes it a poor fit for JL. Any thoughts? Did I miss one?

Wasn't Mr Blue Sky much admired recently as part of the new Guardians of the Galaxy film?
