What constitutes a 'solo' album as opposed to an ELO album? Armchair Theatre was a solo album with help from Richard ,Zoom was an ELO album with help from Richard, and no doubt that Richard will be involved with Jeff's new album so at what point does it turn from a solo effort into a group thing?

Sales potential I would imagine would have a large influence in how it is marketed and which artist it is listed as on the sleeve. It could be for this reason Hyde Park was billed as Jeff Lynne's ELO, trying to push both the names into peoples minds.

ELO is, I think, is more of a sound and an idea than a name. Jeff’s new album I suspect will be a Jeff solo album, unless the marketing people get their hands on it, because the record had been planned long before the recent Barlow/Evans ELO renaissance.
An ELO group album will probably have to contain the essential elements of ELO – namely pizzazz: the studio wizardry, magical strings, a bit of glitter and plenty of pop. While a Jeff solo record is less image based, less gloss, closer to Jeff as a musician, more classical in the rock sense.

I guess it's the amount of strings and/or synths on the album that makes it ELO as opposed to Lynne solo. "Balance Of Power" has the synths all over it. Otherwise, it may have been the first solo album. "Zoom" brings back the string sections which were largely absent from "Armchair Theatre". Recent bonus tracks such as "One Day" and "Point Of No Return" also have the strings.
So as he is now working on a solo album, I have high hopes that it is chock full of guitars :-)

Didn't he say that he's experimenting with some different sounds for this new record?

You'd have to ask Mr. Lynne himself.
ELO has been and is what Jeff considers it to be at any given time... so I think the differentiation between a "group" album and a solo album is beside the point at this stage.

The barking dog has already been done... the bear slipping on a banana peel and landing on it's butt hasn't.
Can anyone else hear that old cartoon sound effect in their head? That would fit like a glove on an upcoming record.

This whole time I've been wondering whether or not you, Nick and Beachboy would return at some point, and it's good to see that you have. Have you heard any further news from the two of them, recently?
To answer your question: I've cared for the name I was given at birth for 0.00% of my life, and am using the shortened version of my middle name... so thanks for blowing the imaginary "cover".

Beach is busy being a working musician in Australia. Nick is busy pimping and watching reality tv.....or not.

Didn't he say that he's experimenting with some different sounds for this new record? Well, different sounds could mean anything really. I'm curious already. However, I'm not expecting this next album to be another synth album like "Time".
