Poll folks in their 60's. Be interesting where the Beatles stand. Will the Rolling Stones win out?

This makes perfect sense to me. I'm in my early 50s. I was five years old when the Beatles split. The Fab Four are wonderful, but for me growing up, they were the stuff of history, albeit very recent. (Is that blasphemous to some folks? ) ELO and Queen, both of whom I liked then and still like now, were in their prime hit-making era when I was approaching adolescence and throughout the teen years, when most kids start to delve into the music that is specific to their generation. Their music is probably more meaningful (to us in this age group) because of that direct connection to those years in our lives, I would think. To my ears, ELO and Queen's songs were also very distinctive and likely to still be remembered and identifiable as coming from them, as compared to the other music being produced at that time. Just my two cents.
