Ok, we are all familiar with this video (directed by Warren Fu) - if not, it's readily available via Vevo.
Question 1: At approx. 35 to 40 seconds in, some rectangles appear in the distance (behind the building). Why are they there? They remind me of something ELO related, but I can't quite put my finger on it; possibly the squares in the background of the "Diary of Horace Wimp" video - or maybe from the back of an early album cover. WHY why why are they in the Fu video? Help!
Question 2: At approx. 1min 50 secs we see a young Jeff reclining on the lounge (presumably in his parent's famous front room/studio) with various bits of recording equipment floating around him; behind his head on the wall is .... What? Some sort of weird wall-mounted speaker array? Since virtually everything else in the video has some significance or is a JL-related reference - I'd love someone to enlighten me...
Question 3: At approx. 2 mins 25 secs we see an unoccupied room; the guitar in the rocking chair is obviously a nod to Roy Orbison - and possibly the leather jacket hanging on the coat stand is a nod to George Harrison (not sure why I think that) or Tom Petty - can anyone see any more 'hidden references'?
Question 4: Did 'the lads' drive a Renault minivan in the early days? Is this snippet hidden in Bev's book? It seems an odd choice when a Kombi van would seem more usual.
I think the video is quite appropriate; Jeff loves his little mysteries and hidden things - and the Fu video delivers!
Any thoughts anyone?

The only issue I have with this video and that puzzles me greatly, is why they chose to depict "baby Jeff" as a lad with abundant curly hair? Hair in Jeff's younger days was never worn like that. It's an anachronism.

The only answer I'm even remotely sure of relates to the flying bricks near the start, which form the side of the first house leading into the street sequence (itself possibly a reference to Jeff paying his dues on the Long Black Road). While the van is clearly meant to be a nod to Jeff's earlier years as a musician, it's uncanny how similar his double looks to the real thing - specifically from the Time era! As for other hidden bits, there's a brief appearance from a certain Bang & Olufsen BeoCord 2000K De Luxe tape recorder at approximately 1:45, though I've not really noticed anything else...
P.S. This one's probably just me, but did anyone else think the pattern behind young Jeff in the recliner was a hint at his future version's wall of discs, as seen later taking up many of the rooms around Bungalow Palace in real life?

1. Bricks forming the houses maybe indicating that the building blocks of Jeff's career were started with those houses and streets? (Why are they flying over the sea ?) 2. I think that it just looks like horrible '60s wallpaper 3. Dunno 4. Don't remember reading about what type of van they had but why is it left hand drive?
Two more question for you lot. Who is the guy in the doorway playing the blue guitar? (Is it Jeff? If so who's the kid with the curly hair who's just run past him? Who's the guy in the Van with the glasses? It looks like John(or Sean Lennon)
I'm seeing so much more in this video now!

We've all seen the 'Free As A Bird' video that contains multiple references to Beatles songs,I think Jeff maybe tried a similar concept for WIWAB? Not on the same scale but just a few little titbits that only true fans would see...

The more puzzled I get, the more I feel JL is sitting somewhere quietly having a chuckle at us all!

I thought all the folks in Europe drove on the right (hence left-hand drive) on weekends .
Seriously I suspect Mr Wu used a bit of 'creative truth' so that Jeff would be looking directly at the viewer (and the paper aeroplane); a constraint of the "in one shot, on rails" filming style of the video.
I can't find anything resembling the 'flying bricks' on any ELO album - alas I don't have any Idle Race or Move stuff - perhaps someone could check. Another thought - are the bricks on a Beatles album? "In the beginning there was The Beatles" would be a possible line of thought...

Is that supposed to be Hugh leaning out from a cloud of smoke at 2:05?

Ok I just re-read the whole of BB's book (took less than 2 hours) - the only 'van mentioned was a Bedford - but that was from back in "The Move" days....

Did Jeff's father's work involve bricklaying as well as paving? I ask because my father was a cement mason (he did concrete paving) and did some bricklaying early on when he was trying to decide on a field to pursue in construction. Just a wild guess...
