I remember seeing him wearing it at the Leeds University gig in February 1975. It looks like satin to me. bluey did you attend the Leeds gig? Quote from blueyYes, I was at the Leeds University gig in Feb 1975, it was held in the refectory. There weren't any seats so we sat on the floor, there was a dining area upstairs with chairs and formica topped tables. I sat on a table watching over the banister.

Yes, I was at the Leeds University gig in Feb 1975, it was held in the students refectory, There weren't any seats in the main hall, so the audience sat on the floor. I was 18 at the time, not wanting to sit on the floor I looked upwards and there was a mezzanine floor up above which overlooked the main hall. I went up to the mezzanine floor and saw all the dining chairs and tables which were cleared from the main hall to make way for the audience were all stacked up neatly. I pulled one of the formica topped tables over to the metal banister and I sat on the table watching the concert from above. The support act was a classical / prog rock outfit called Chopyn, their lead singer and pianist was a very attractive female with long dark hair, she was wearing a long white lace gown, it was similar to a wedding dress, someone in the audience shouted "get 'em off", I think he was refering to her clothes, not the band. Chopyn played a good set of unfamiliar songs (to me anyway) for 45 minutes, after the beer break ELO appeared on the stage and started things off with "Daybreaker". Most of the material they played was from the "Eldorado" album, there performed an "On the Third Day" medley, Hugh's cello solo lasted about 12 minutes finishing off with "Flight of the Bumblebee". Mik also did his solo hopping around the stage on one leg like a lunatic, as usual he finished with "The Orange Blossom Special". Other memorable numbers played were, "10538 Overture", Showdown, Grieg's classical "In the Hall of the Mountain King", "Great Balls of Fire" and the evening was rounded off with "Roll Over Beethoven", I had a great night for my £2 ticket price. Those were the days.
Cheers,
Dave.
