I think it's a shirt, a very nice shirt though haha. I wouldn't worry about it jiminyjellysolo , we've all been there and cocked up the quotes, technology for you!  that's it. who wants to ride down to LA with me and hit up every goodwill between Santa Monica, San Diego, and Palm Springs? it's a long shot but i've got nothing else going on.... Haha I'd love to but LA is a very long flight from where I am, wouldn't get to you till the next day!  |

wolvesgirlgonewild well it will take me about eight hours to make the drive, and probably six weeks on the hunt. i doubt i will find anything but, i think i'm really gonna do it! gotta live spontaneously you know? i'm sure i'll find some cool stuff either way.

 I think this outfit suits Jeff well. It's nice and casual but put together and it's a little retro just like Jeff. This looks like a pretty rough neighborhood! So thankful Jeff has a bumbershoot to protect himself. |

I was trying to figure out what about Jeff's 1980s look seemed off, really different, and I think I've figured it out. (Not that he has to answer to me or anything!!) It wasn't the shorter hair or the trim beard. That looked fine. (Although I do think the big hair suits Jeff, except in the photos where he just seems to have a shaggy, unkempt "bed head.") And though I'm not crazy about the 1980s clothes, that's not it either. It's sadness and it's the shades. Of course, I know JL was going through some incredibly trying times during the 1980s and had every reason to be sad, but the shape of the shades he wore then makes the sense of sadness seem even more pronounced, with the teardrop shaped lenses and frames that curve downward on the sides. Is it just me?   |

I've always thought Jeff looked very sad around the time of Secret Messages and BOP. He was always holding his head to one side like he didn't have the strength to hold it upright. I also feel like I can sense his sadness in those two albums which is one of the reasons I'm not crazy about either of them. |

I'm listening to Secret Messages a lot in the car lately, and yes, it's very dark, but I like the coherence and depth of the lyrics, which isn't the case for all ELO songs. Most of JL's vocals on this album are quite good, too. I tend to enjoy ELO's sad ballads and rockers the most, so there's plenty for me to like on that album.

I'm not mad about his whole over-groomed look in the 1980's, he seems to have relaxed a bit more in recent years and it suits him better imho (but then my favourite Jeff era look is around 1976) smiley-cool15 |

Jeff wore that shirt during the "Eldorado" tour, I remember seeing him wearing it at the Leeds University gig in February 1975. It looks like satin to me.
