I thought I'd start a dedicated George thread so that we can talk about the great man aside from his work with Jeff.
I'll start by posting this, one of my favourite-ever clips, of George on Eric Idle's Rutland Weekend TV -

I had no clue about this show. Poor George trying not to fall.

No wonder Eric's character doesn't want him on the show! George's pirating skills need a bit more practice but at least he won in the end and managed to steal the show with his song .
George and Eric were great pals. This is my favourite picture of them together -

I'd forgotten I'd watched this clip, bless George trying to keep his balance, what a lovely guy George was. I spot Neil Innes of The Rutles fame too, does anyone know how Eric and George became friends? It seems George has had a wide range of famous friends, well he is so likeable after all!

I had no clue about this show. Poor George trying not to fall. Sadly I don't think we'll see Rutland Weekend TV on DVD anytime soon. Eric and Neil Innes aren't on the best terms I heard and I believe Eric isn't keen on the show anyway, plus copyright would be a nightmare. Still, happily, there are many episodes online. Look out for David Battley in them, he was the teacher in the Willy Wonka Gene Wilder movie, he does some rather impressive juggling on one episode!

Sorry for taking liberties, H W. Is there a copyright infringement?

I believe the two met when Eric was in LA promoting Holy Grail in 1975. George later asked Eric to direct videos for him so they were fast friends by 1976 -
One for 'Crackerbox Palace' in 1977
Another for 'True Love' also in 1977
Eric also appears on 'This Song' calling out "Could be 'Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch' – No, sounds more like 'Rescue Me'!" -
The video features a lot of George's pals including Ron Wood, Jim Horn, Olivia Trinidad Arias (later Harrison) and Jim Keltner as the judge.

Crackerbox Palace, this has got to be one of the wackiest videos I have ever seen and George looks so adorable in a school boy's uniform, it made me laugh, think I love George even more than I already do. Can't believe I've never listened to this song, what a cracking song, George's guitar sound is just so distinctive! Again great video by Eric, had visions of George falling into the river at the end, bless him! This Song I happened to listen to because I knew it was written in response to the law suit he got for My Sweet Lord, I can tell Eric is doing those particular vocals! Is that Ronnie Wood dressed as one of the women?

Yes, that's Ronnie Wood dressed as one of the women. I just remembered, the two of them worked together on a song 'Far East Man' which they both recorded a version of.
And of course both 'Crackerbox Palace' and 'True Love' were filmed at Friar Park - gosh, I wish I could buy that place, I've got a huge weakness for neo-gothic architecture! Who wouldn't want their own caves they can take a boat into? One of the first things Jeff did on visiting Friar Park was let George take him out on the boat.

Friar Park does look very nice! Where is it in England? Haha I've heard the story about him first going to Friar Park many times, especially the whole gripping with your bum on the boat, that was hilarious! I love how Jeff tells stories!

Friar Park is in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. It took me ages before I realised what F.P.H.O.T. meant on George's CDs!
Jeff should tell more stories, you could listen to him for hours couldn't you? He just has the right voice.

I really could listen to him for hours! So was it through Dave Morgan how George and Jeff met? Ahh is it still there? I'm presuming it is haha
