Just came across this song, there are some veryyy interesting comments on it, a couple of which make me feel very angry that someone has dared insult Jeff's musical talent but whatever they don't matter. What's everyone's views of the cover? To me it sounds very much like The Beatles cover on Beatles for Sale The fact that it sounds like Paul is providing the higher harmony on it also adds to its very Beatley quality!

Sounds very much like The Beatles version doesn't it? But like in a good way, did Jeff ever cover any Roy Orbison songs at all?

It's a great cover, you got any favourite covers that Jeff or ELO have done?

What about "nowhere man" and "With a little help from my friends" on the "All this and World War II" album. Also "Long Wave" was all cover versions

I love the Holly cover. It sounds as though Jeff was really putting his heart into it. It does sound more Beatles-y than Holly though.
One of my favourite covers is the one Jeff did of 'Something'. When I heard him sing back-up to Clapton at the Concert for George I knew he'd do a great version!

Yeah that's the impression I got of the cover too it sounds more like a cover of The Beatles cover of Words of Love! I haven't heard the cover Jeff did for Concert for George but I saw the Grammy version with him, Dhani and Joe Walsh on guitar, have you seen that version queenofthehours?

Chippa Lovely covers of Roy Orbison songs, what on earth is Jeff chatting in the second video saying he's not a great singer? Jeff you have got one of the greatest voices ever! Not quite up to Paul's standards yet in my opinion but nearly there! I love hearing the iconic guitar in Roy Orbison tracks!

I've seen the Grammy version but I think I prefer the Concert for George version. Maybe it's because the event was so much more emotional but it's definitely because Jeff is a back-up singer extraordinaire. He just makes the track extra lovely with the minimum of effort.
I had forgotten that Macca starts the song with his uke!

Jeff's cover of Junk on The Art Of McCartney tribute album (2014) is also highly recommended. It's a song that always reminded me of ELO anyway and Jeff's cover of it just works perfectly.
