Really nice interview from Jeff, think this before they start recording A New World Record? Can't believe how chatty Jeff is and witty on it, is this the most animated he's ever been on an interview or there are any more examples of this? Feel free to put the links to them on here. I love watching Jeff interviews because he's such an interesting guy to listen to, bit like Paul McCartney really!

elophile Yeah I got the impression he was drunk, it's like footage I saw of Bev, Richard and Jeff from 1986 I think and they were just talking utter crap, Jeff was veryyy chatty and I got the impression they were all drunk, did make me laugh when I saw it! I haven't seen this interview no but I will check it out, thanks!

wolvesgirlgonewild have you seen this interview from Xanadu? Jeff is exceptionally chatty and animated in this one... Oh bless Jeff at the beginning "can I just say, can I just say" so cute! I see what you mean by how animated he is in this, it almost seems strange seeing him so chatty because he always comes across as a shy person. He sounds veryyyy Brummie here, it seems when he was younger he sounded more Brummie than when he's got older (probably because he lives in America now) I mean he still has a strong accent now but not as strong as it seems in the 1976 interview and this one. Does anyone know how he ended up writing music for Xanadu? I read that the film didn't do very well but the soundtrack did!

That's such a Beatles style answer like when John in A Hard Day's Night gets asked how did you find America? Turn left at Greenland, classic!

This is my favourite interview -
"We never looked forward since"
Mike de Albuquerque - "I'd never seen anything like it in my life" Mik - "I saw the advert for the job in the Sporting Life"
This is a great little interview, everyone gets to talk and an argument nearly breaks out over who were the founding members ("Where's Roy Wood?").
I think the band probably had a little too much ale to drink during this interview but even so, like any interview Jeff has done, I think nervousness is the reason for a lot of his chattiness, especially when he talks nonsense. His avoidance of publicity means he is a lot more natural in front of the camera than people who are professional interviewees. Personally I'd rather have "awkward Jeff" than a slick media expert. It makes him far more human and lovable.
The interview for Xanadu, have you seen how ONJ looks at Jeff??

I agree about nervousness making you more chatty I'm like that when I'm talking to strangers I talk crap when I'm nervous so I sympathise with Jeff on that one. Yes me too, I love watching him in interviews because he is so lovable. Does she look at him in a sort of in awe of him way? That's how I'd be in the presence of Jeff 😉

Was Jeff in the interview? I was just looking at ONJ. You're as bad as my Dad when it comes to Olivia Newton-John! As much as I liked her in Grease, must say I prefer Jeff's version of Xanadu than her singing it!

Omg that video was hilarious, when Mik says he drinks a lot of beer and someone says he farts a lot omg these guys are so funny, think I agree that yes they may have had a bit tooo much to drink but certainly gives for interesting viewing!

Jeff being interviewed by Tom Petty about Armchair Theatre with a casual armchair in a garden because why not? It's Jeff Lynne that's all you need really, he's allowed to do what he wants
