Looking at some of these pics, I've come to the conclusion that Hugh McDowell had the real rock star vibe in the band.

Regarding that Armchair Theatre promo shot, I have to wonder if the egg chair isn't just a deliberate Time reference, but a call back to this print ad:

Meanwhile, Jeff ponders his next tune. Heh! I was thinking he was pondering what order to sue them all in, some time soon

We can see it in The Big Night and Fusion concert videos. That was part of what made ELO really unique in the mid to late 70s (though the exploding orange/cello earlier was pretty cool too). But years down the road the dear leader of ELO would dismiss the celloists by saying that they danced around more than they played.

It was the cellists who played a big part in making the band what it was, Jeff should never forget that...

You know, I've never seen footage of Mike Edwards' famous exploding orange (or was it a grapefruit?). I've read a lot about it, but never seen it.

To my knowledge there is no video footage but apparently there are a few bootleg shows that you can hear.

That really is tenuous! Whats your theory regarding the Time chair then? It’s a 1980s style egg chair How much did you drink that night?

Everything about this makes me smile, it's from a long-ago and carefree time we'll probably never see again
