In 1969 Jackie magazine ran a cartoon strip on the life and times of Move singer Carl Wayne. Here are a couple of extracts which feature Roy and Hot Bev in supporting roles.

The "Chris" character featured is probably Ace Kefford (real name Christopher).

From British weekly teenage magazine Jackie, 1971. Fashion is questionable to say the least...

I think this is the first I've heard of Jackie magazine. So went on line looking for info. And I have no doubt if I had been living in the UK that I'd subscribe to this (and Melody Maker). It appears way cooler then "Teen" magazine, offered over here at the time, that dealt with nothing but your zits and make-up. What is up with so many covers featuring girls in floppy hats? www.beatchapter.com/jackie-magazine-171-c.asp

Is that how The Move were named, an off the cuff remark by Bev?

Is that how The Move were named, an off the cuff remark by Bev? I've never seen the name directly attributed to Bev outside that comic, but it was indeed a reference to all five original members being poached from various local bands (which continued with later additions as well), their goal to find greater success outside of just Birmingham.

From Jackie magazine. Didn't know Roy bred tropical fish - perhaps he ran a Muk.
