Oh, you! You were giving your cat instructions in French! How's a cat named "Snowshoes" supposed to understand (and subsequently obbey) that? Snowshoes was a French cat, Helmut83 - we met in Paris when he was just a chaton. Living with me, though, he soon became bilingual. Understood everything I said to him. And then just did as he liked. As they all do, but this is part of why we love them. I did wonder how we'd get on when Wales played France at rugby, but he generally purred throughout each match. A good-natured kitty. Although when it came to defending me from les araignées, downright useless! For the forum cat-lovers, here's one I met in the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool this week. Might be tricky inviting him on to your lap, though. And imagine the size of the catflap... I was amused by the sign on display next to Felix. Bet we all know a few kits who'd like a similar notice pinned above their basket.

Right, back to the story. I had of course packed the one essential travel book: The Horace Wimp Guide To Eating Out On Holiday. In a nearby street was the statue of Eleanor Rigby. (An important lady from the Industrial Revolution, Helmut83 .) "You want a tip? Well, the beard's coming on nicely, but that violin needs a coat of blue paint." No, she's not Dirty To The Bone - this is Art. Met this lady in the Liverpool Tate. (See, the trip wasn't all about curry and chatting up musicians. Well, not entirely ). Admired this mosaic, Pool Of Life, in the Museum of Liverpool. There's even a kitty, on the left. Liver Birds watching over the city, from their perches. John, never the most diligent student, would probably have fallen about laughing at the idea of having a university building named after him. The paving stones leading into the Walker Art Gallery bear the names of famous movies filmed, or partly filmed, in Liverpool. One of which is my fave film, Chariots of Fire. All in all, after only two days there, Liverpool was starting to feel like a home from home: It was hard to say goodbye! Hope you've enjoyed this quick tour. All together now: Beatles Forever! Yeah, yeah, yeah. The End (Lennon-McCartney).

Wonderful Liverpool story vlogdance ! Great pictures too.
The Cavern is an amazing place. I'm sure that guy with the guitar was the same one I saw when I went in. He was playing 'Ticket to Ride' then. Did you feel the change in the air as you descended the stairs into the depths? You can certainly trust in those reports that said the Cavern's walls dripped with moisture in the 60s. Did you meet John outside? I wonder if Jeff had his photo took with Lennon's statue?
Those sparkly trees! I tried to photograph those after the ELO Echo gig and failed miserably. Did you go on the wheel?
I'm happy to see you visited the Walker. My most favourite gallery in the world, a superb collection of Pre-Raphaelite art. If you like art I recommend the Lady Lever Gallery, across the water, also.
"No feeling the cat" . But I want to feel the cat!!

Heh, glad you all enjoyed the Liverpool adventures. I did see the Hard Day's Night hotel, Helmut83, it looked most smart. And the weather was fine, really warm, which always gives you a good impression of a new city you're discovering. I saw John's statue outside the Cavern, queenofthehours, but I didn't go on the Big Wheel. Maybe next time, I'd like to go back to Liverpool some day.

Lady looks as if she deciding "Which outfit will I wear today?" or it's pile of laundry, poor dear. Love the three/four massive buildings, each a different type of architecture right next to each other. Beautiful.

Love, love LOVE the update vlogdance - Liverpool is plainly a hotbed of arty-ness as well as a cradle of musical greatness. Must say I'd want to feel the cat too, and the Liver Birds are madly iconic. I can never decide if their tethers are to keep them in place or stop them flying away. I'd love to go back and see the pre-raphaelite paintings - are they only in the Walker gallery or are they in the Lady Lever gallery too?

Thanks, Uno. I didn't get time to visit all the galleries, but I gather the Lady Lever is known for such paintings. I'll have to go back and check some time soon, a great excuse to visit again.
By the way, the Cardiff Couple didn't appear again - but when we met in the gift shop, Mrs Cardiff told me of her proudest moment in Liverpool. They'd visited Paul McCartney's old house, with a National Trust tour guide - and when the guide's back had been turned, Mrs Cardiff had sneaked into the bathroom and sat on the toilet, just for a second. So her new claim to fame was that she'd sat on Paul McCartney's loo. I suggested she write an article about this, under the title "All You Need Is Lav."

Thanks for the follow up, Vlog bach! To be honest, I was expecting a few more indiscretions for your dear friends (or did you think the Welsh valleys are the only place where people are nosey?), but the great photos and epigraphs make up for the lack of them. Yeap, you can see in some of those photos what a beautiful weather you got! Lucky! Last question: did you visit any bar or pub at Liverpool? BTW, I didn't know your Snowshoes was French. In spite of this, it makes sense calling him like that instead of something much longer like Chaussures de Neige. In a nearby street was the statue of Eleanor Rigby. (An important lady from the Industrial Revolution, Helmut83 .) lol Talking about Horace, you did well in taking his book with you. As confirmed by his comment above, the man can identify any Indian dish just by looking at it. "No feeling the cat" .
But I want to feel the cat!! Yeah, that use of the word "feeling" seemed funny to me as well. I'm not sure if it's the way you say it normally, an accident or a joke, but "feeling" the cat instead of touching, petting or stroking it sounds a pretty deep and intense way of interacting with it. or it's pile of laundry, poor dear. lol Ah, BSJ , a few days away and I was already missing these jokes of yours... BTW, the Embarrass BSJ Train is taking no more passengers.
