To be honest I do credit Mr Blue Sky with introducing me to ELO, Turn to Stone and Don't Bring Me Down were also on a Doctor Who episode. So I guess I'll always have a bit of a soft spot for Mr Blue Sky. It's not like their best song because to me stuff off Time or Discovery, stuff like that is better
Even though I feel so down I can't get up, I'm still holding on tight to my dreams...
That MBS could well stand for Mr. Bullshit as far as I'm concerned...
May I ask why you say that, Helmut? Just curious.
Of course you may.
I don't like Mr. Blue Sky much. I think it's a pretty mediocre song, but the main problem I have with it is not that I find it mediocre (Jeff has done a lot of worse stuff IMO); the problem is that it is by far ELO's most well-known song and I think it is not representative of ELO's greatness nor of Jeff Lynne's genius. Not at all. It is the flagship song of the band but it gives a false and unfair image of what ELO's music is about.
The best therapy for any problem you might have is playing music with friends.
