So it doesn't look like my records are going to make me a million, so it's time to play my ace card This is worth more than a million to me, it's my personalised Jeff Lynne autograph, it has pride of place inside the cover of my OOTB album.

Have not seen one where he's written ELO after his signature. Where and when and how?
H W - get this slice of heaven out of that album cover and have it professionally framed! DUDE!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! You know the idea you and unomusette had about posting yourself to Jeff, well I beat you to it back in 1979, the only way I would leave was with a autograph I'll tell you the true story tomorrow

I am officially seething with jealousy. Unfortunately I haven't met Jeff, getting the autograph was easy, I didn't have to do anything, I've just got a very good friend. I'll explain all tomorrow, the story is not very exciting

Mmmmm... what do we have so far? It's on blue lined notepaper used for school. This is folded as if been in an envelope, or a book, or jean back pocket?
The year 1979. H W is born 1963. Let's do the math shall we? and see where this gets us. H W is a sweet sixteen year old. That type of paper fits.
Did W H carry this paper in his back pocket when showing off?
Claims a buddy got it for him.
Jeff abbreviated H W's real name. Or, H W 's buddy did not know how to spell it?
Jeff writing ELO is very interesting. Did he not think that H W would know who Jeff was? Or, anyone?
H W buddy got this when he went to a OOB tour concert?
What did Jeff look like in '79? Check shade photos. (Will this help? No. Just any reason to look at him)
Well, that's all I've got and none of this will help tell us the true tale.
Would anyone else like to take a shot?
Glad we have at least one fan reading of mine and unomusette's adventures in eyeliner land. She's the clever one of us two - I'm the sidekick who needles her on to keep her writing. Sometimes after reading a post from her, I throw up my hands and say - this is it! I can't go on! Mercy!

This is the story of how I got Jeff's autograph, it's not exciting as I said so don't fall asleep.
It was around 1979/80 when my best friend, also an ELO fan got a part time job at the main concert venue The Odeon in Birmingham UK. He collected tickets and sold programmes on the concert nights. One evening he was at work as normal the gig was a 60s night with a number of acts playing. In the distance in the lobby of the Odeon he spotted Jeff with some friends, he approached him and asked for his autograph which Jeff kindly gave him. As a good friend should he remembered my obsession with ELO and asked Jeff to sign a piece of paper for me, which he did and thats whats in my picture. My friend didn't have much time to speak to Jeff as Jeff heard what was playing in the auditorium and said "It's Bobby Vee!!" to his friends and off he went.
I don't know why Jeff added ELO to the autograph maybe it was because I wasn't there when he signed it and thought I wouldn't know who he was, I will have to check with my friend on what Jeff wrote on his autograph. Loz is the shortened version of my real name which all my mates still call me.

A personalised autograph is a very special artefact indeed especially when an interesting story is attatched. Lucky old Horace!

H W, That's a great story! Great background details. I just want to keep looking at it! Show us a pic of it framed. Hint, hint.

This is such a oool story, bless Jeff for signing so interestingly for you when he was on his own time. Lots of famous peeps would just tell you to hop off. It's so sweet as well to picture him all excited and rushing off when he heard Bobby Vee - guess he is soppy about music and has idols just like us. And most of us, like my partner in crime BSJ, can only sit and stare at him, amazed. Thanks for sharing, Mr Wimp Framed Picture would be luuurvely, yes please. I spend ages wondering what I'd say if I were to meet any of my musical faves, what question can you ask that hasn't been asked a billion times before? In reality I know I'd just go tomato red and burble nonsense so it's a good thing I've hardly met any of them. I feel a new thread coming on... Now then, sounds like the aforementioned BSJ has been busy, can I trust her honeyed words? Probably not, but I'm off to find out what fresh indiginity she's heaped upon me, however awful it is I'm sure to love it 'cos I'm putty in her hands. If anyone is at a loose enough end to read our ramblings, thanks! But you know it's only encouraging us, hehe

H W, Anything about the ELO written under Jeff's name? I don't know why Jeff wrote ELO under the autograph. I'm seeing my friend who got it for me in a couple of weeks time, I will try to remember to ask him to tell me his version of the story again (incase I've forgotten any of it) and see if he knows why ELO was written.
