OK, here are 8 songs from Charlie Daniels.
Hope you enjoy them.
01. "Still in Saigon" - Great song apparently about post-traumatic-stress-disorder from the Vietnam war.
02. "Hey Mr. D.J." - Guess like Sir Elton would say: "When all hope is gone, sad songs say so much."
03. "Georgia" - Very nice relaxing song from his infamous "Fire On the Mountain" album.
04. "Willie Jones" - Nice song about a security guard who befriended a convict who escaped.
05. "El Toreador" - Like the Spanish flavor to it, the lyric doesn't engage me that much, but like the overall feel of it.
06. "Redneck Fiddlin' Man" - To me, this one may be his quintessential song, even moreso than "Devil Went Down to Georgia".
07. "The South's Gonna Do It Again" - Famous fun southern rocker from "Fire on the Mountain".
08. "Orange Blossom Special" - Great take on the iconic fiddle tune, named after a train. Certainly the best version I've ever heard of it.
Hope you enjoy them.
Jim
P.S. Below is a cheat sheet, so it can be a quick and easy review for everyone.
(Maybe a standard courtesy we can provide for each other, if we remember.)

I certainly didn't know anything more of Charlie Daniels Band than Devil Went Down to Georgia before now, good to get to listen to some recommendations. It's not a musical style I've listened to much, but it does remind me at times of one of my early favorite gospel artists, Don Francisco.
01. "Still in Saigon" - A very honest portrayal of the trauma of war. I think the relative absence of "agenda pushing" gives it more power. Musically, a little hint of "Rhiannon"?
02. "Hey Mr. D.J." - Lonely guy...
03. "Georgia" - Easy to listen to tribute to the state.
04. "Willie Jones" - Now there's a dilemma, letting a friendship sneak into such a situation.
05. "El Toreador" - Carries the Spanish flavor quite well, but agree the subject material isn't very inspiring.
06. "Redneck Fiddlin' Man" - To be honest, didn't find that much to enjoy in this one, garbled lyrics and some unappealing sawing, sorry!
07. "The South's Gonna Do It Again" - Yeah, that's a rollicking celebration of Southern music makers.
08. "Orange Blossom Special" - Well that train certainly does some interesting gymnastics! (Mik did a pretty good job of it too)

Must admit I only know The Devil Went Down to Georgia from TCDB but I'm always ready to sample something new so here goes: Still in Saigon - For a start I like the way the lyrics can be heard very clearly, which is good because they're worth listening to. The song rocks along nicely and I rather enjoyed it, although it does have a bit of a dated '80's sound. Hey Mr DJ - Lovely warm sound to this as it kicks off. Extremely easy listening, the vocal is really smooth. Does go on a bit too long for me though. Georgia - Great stero effect with the guitars on this one, and some nifty picking going on. Again very easy on the ear while not being earth shattering. Willie Jones - Things are livening up here, and I love a story song. Plenty going on too, more the sort of song I'd expect from TCDB. Probably my favourite so far and the album cover is fab. El Toreador - Ooh, another story song, goody! Plenty of drama and Spanish atmosphere, love the trumpets. As someone who totally disagrees with bullfighting the ending struck me as satisfying rather than sad. Redneck Fiddlin' Man - Groovy opening and then we're swept away by the twinkling fiddle. This song really does mean business, loads of tasty playing and I can see why it's a classic. I really like the instrumental bit led by the piano from about 3 minutes in. My new favourite, this will be added to my Spotify playlist for sure. Even though it's well over 5 minutes long I wanted more when it ended. The South's Gonna Do It Again - Plenty of feeling in the vocal and some neat lyrics, it bounces along nicely and generates some serious nodding along. Orange Blossom Special - Well, of course nobody could possibly better Mik Kaminski's version. Not for me anyway. This one is probably faster but speed isn't everything. This genre of music is really not one I'd naturally gravitate towards, but I can appreciate that of its type it's pretty darned good. And I've definitely discovered one or two songs to add to my library. This was a lot of fun to listen to and I'd give this collection 7 out of 10, thanks for sharing jrmugz

Hey unomusette , I really enjoyed your review. Glad someone appreciates "Redneck Fiddlin' Man" as much as I do, and I agree "Willie Jones" is a great track. Yeah, Charlie's a great storyteller, for sure. And I'm glad you noticed the album cover for it, I agree that is a great cover as is the cover of "Fire on the Mountain". Guess I will have to check out Mik Kaminski's version of "Orange Blossom Special", if it's better than Charlie's, it must be pretty darn good! Platypus , I guess I can hear the "Rhianon" connection for "Still in Saigon", though I don't necessarily get the 80's vibe out of it that uno hears in it. I think one of the strengths of the songs also is that it showcases the great dual guitar solo work of Charlie and Tom Crain, which is a trademark of the CDB sound for that era. Jim

Still in Saigon - Great opening, I love anything that that starts with ace drums. It reminds me of something but I can’t tell what. The guitars sounds great and the production is good. I like this a lot. So far it's got everything I like in music. Great solo and I absolutely sound of those drums. Hey Mr DJ - More country, less rock in comparison to the last but just as good musically and has the same great production.
Georgia - Another nice opening. Very pleasant country. Not too much not to little.
Willie Jones - Is that mandolin? I love mandolins.
El Toreador - This one sounds a bit different. I like that cover showing them looking a bit like an ELO version fronted by Mik .
Redneck Fiddlin' Man - Very ELO. Oh I do like this opening. A bit Face the Music as written by Mik. Some top fiddling here. Maybe favourite so far and I have a few favourites here.
The South's Gonna Do It Again - Fiddlefest! Rock and fiddles and blues all in one. As I listen to these track they get more and more fiddly.
Orange Blossom Special - Direct ELO link here. A much more true version I think of this track. I love the way the instruments are so tight and work together.
I don't even think I've heard of Charlie before but I like him a lot. There's lots of fiddles which is an instrument that will always go down well with any ELO fan. I'm certainly going to check him out more closely.
