New single: Omg you've certainly seen them a few times, what was it like seeing them in my hometown? Ooh thank you very much, I'll listen to this, my dad told me they'd got a new album out! I've crossed the border and seen a few bands in Wolverhampton, Human League, Chas and Dave and Gary Numan to name a few. When I saw OMD in Wolv it was after they got back together and the first time they had toured in 16 years. I was going with Mrs Wimp but on the night daughter two was ill, Mrs Wimp insisted I went and so I took daughter one with me who is a similar age to you she was 12 in 2007, she wondered what had hit her as they played Architecture and Mortality album in full a little different to S Club 7 who she liked!!!

The Human League and OMD have a bit of a rivalry don't they? They certainly don't like each other! Haha I bet! Oh god S Club 7, one of the bands I did used to like though when I was very young, by the age of 12 I was very much into The Beatles by then!

Mr. eloneen and I went to see The Doobie Brothers and Chicago in concert in an outdoor amphitheater (capacity 20,000) last night in Raleigh, NC. We don't go to concerts often, so it was a real treat! I don't have pictures to post, because the few that I took were terrible. Lines were long to get in, with tight security and lots of fans in attendance. The weather was warm and pleasant, and by the time we got to our seats, which were on the last row before lawn seating, The Doobie Brothers were already on stage and playing, but we hadn't missed too much. We had a decent view of the stage and I was glad that we hadn't purchased lawn tickets or splurged on more expensive seats close up. It was hard to tell how many people were there, but the seats were about 80-90% full and there were lots of people on the lawn. Both bands were really impressive! They were pretty energetic and they were all clearly having a good time on the stage - smiling, interacting with the crowd and having fun with each other on stage-- and they sounded fantastic! Both bands still have some original members who've been playing together for about 50 years, and some newer/younger folks, so a good blend of youthful energy, and shared history and "magic" from the old timers. The crowd was polite and enthusiastic (mostly people age 45-65, some with their kids in their teens to thirties), and from what we could see, there were equal numbers of serious Doobies and Chicago fans. Most folks were like us, casual fans of both bands who knew most of the hits, could sing along to many of them, and were happy to see both bands. There was one "groovin' grandpa" a couple of rows ahead of us who was having the time of his life!! He was a round little guy with a snow white crew cut and he was probably in his mid to late sixties. He was up on his feet most of the show, singing a lot, especially when Chicago was on stage, and dancing with his wife/ lady friend , who was a little more low key than he was, but still having a good time. They were too cute! Among the songs the Doobies played: "Long Train Running," "China Grove," Black Water," "Takin' it to the Streets," "Listen to the Music," and "The Doctor." I'm sure I'm leaving out something... Chicago came out as the headliners, and their show included some great video projections, as well as an excellent performance onstage. I remember more of the Chicago set, which included: "Colour my World," "Saturday in the Park," If You Leave Me Now," "Hard to Say I'm Sorry,""You're the Inspiration," "Hard Habit to Break,""Feelin' Stronger Every Day" "Old Days," "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" "Searchin' So Long," "Alive Again" and others I can't remember... Of course, they ended with "25 or 6 to 4!!" A guy sitting near to us said that there was the possibility that both bands would come back out and play together, but, alas, that did not happen. All in all, it was about 3.5 hours of great music - "sweet music on a summer night." Not ELO and not Wembly, but a good time for sure, and not bad for $70 total!! Eloise You said you had considered going to this show. I think it would be worth it if it's close by, you can get tickets at a price you like, and you can get decent seats.

Happy for you, eloneen, that there was good will on stage, and toward the crowd who were true concert lovers who didn't hold back.

Sounds brilliant eloneen, it's always a treat when you can see the band members are really enjoying themselves and a crowd that appreciates it is the icing on the cake. And all in lovely weather, perfect!
