You said yourself that you have an understanding for music and prone to slagging anyone who hasn't got any musical ability, rock and roll isn't about musical perfection it's about playing from the heart and what you believe in. No I didn't, I said I was prone to slagging off anything that isn't up to scratch, I didn't say anything about musical ability. That isolated track of his playing at the RRHoF for a professional musician isn't up to scratch, therefore it's fair game. I maintain what I said earlier, JL is one of the best pop songwriters ever, has an incredible voice (he's just about the best singer I've seen in terms of singing in tune live) is a superb producer, but he's nothing special when it comes to his guitar playing/piano playing etc. I'm not suggesting for one minute that rock music should be musical perfection, it shouldn't as it needs the slackness and lack of the usual musical rules to make it exciting but playing out of time and/or out of tune (for anything other than a couple of notes here or there) makes any music unlistenable. If the rest of the band was playing in a similar way to JL was on RoB it would be laughed off stage. As for playing from the heart and what you believe in, that goes for any music regardless of the genre - it's not just restricted to RnR

It is in no way representative of Jeff as a musician.

I couldn't find another thread for covers of ELO songs - so I've started this one I'm thinking that covers of Jeff's stuff are rare. There is one that's come to mind recently listening to Time again on my way to and from work... Joe was an incredible performer. One of the very best pop singers that Ireland has ever produced, and he was blessed with a terrific pair of lungs. He was popular from the mid-sixties into the seventies, primarily in the 'showband' circuit. With his band, he travelled the length and breadth of Ireland and Britain. This Christmas, it'll be ten years since he sadly left us.

I love it too ! A couple of things: I really think this is a fun song for kids to play. I talked to the instructor who leads my son's little rock band, and encouraged him to propose "Don't Bring Me Down," but he said the kids suggest songs and they decide together. As long as my son has a say in it, it will never happen. Also, if you watch the video in Chippa 's original post you can see Santa and the reindeer dancing to the beat in BSJ 's post. Groovy!

Bumped into these yesterday. They're extremely good. Probably the best tribute efforts / covers I've ever heard. Brilliant.
Happy Sunday all.

The girl on the right is going to make it some day and the boy came into his own as the song went on. Loved the quiet girl on the left (the 'Mik' of the group) just doing her thing without too much fuss......
but they still sang 'BRUCE'!!!!!!!!
