Horacewimp is right, it wasn't my intention to diss anyone. I'm not a Springsteen fan and I'm not going to lie about it, but when I made that comment I didn't realize someone on this thread was; I just focused on the fact that I agreed with Janne about that. So bmac , please don't fret conclussions about how I am based on an "Amen to that" comment, we can all make mistakes. I certainly won't. Just a little too much sensitivity on my part, nothing done wrong on yours. It's all good. Look forward to interacting with you often in the future.

I saw him at Hyde Park in 2012 and he was brilliant. fantastic voice, loads of energy, great crowd interaction.A real bucket list moment for me.However,Ive heard him live since and he hasn't sounded so good.I just wonder if time is catching up on him?

He plays in La Plata, which means I would have to book a hotel there, travel early the day of the concert, stay the night at the hotel and come back home the next day. I've seen him in 2010 and I come from a big expenditure for the whole Jeff Lynne adventure. I've already seen the 3 of my musical heroes at least once. You can't have everything. Nah, I'm saying basically because a few acquaintances will be attending and because they will be airing the show on TV, so I'd like the concert to come out well.

Please allow me to now introduce a shabby trick from 'the book of management' and turn the question around....'Do we really have our hearts in this'
I ask because I went to my first post-ELO concert last night and I'm afraid my heart just wasn't into it. I went to see Yes, a great favourite of mine, for the eleventh time and usually I can really get into it but somehow, I left the venue feeling quite flat. It was a good show but it's as if I have a massive ELO hangover that won't seem to go away. Surely this doesn't mean that I'm destined never to enjoy a concert again??!!!!
My next test comes with Brian Wilson in ten days time. I'm really looking forward to it and in some ways it's almost as meaningful as seeing Jeff - but not quite. We'll see how it goes.
Anyway and my point is, if I'm feeling this way about non-ELO concerts right now then surely the whole ELO experience was delivered by a man who had every single piece of his heart and soul in it to make me feel this way! I have a massive ELO hangover too. Even after a whole month! One of the first things I thought after the concert ended was - "what now?" .
There is no other band or artist I want to see now, and nobody else could live up to the standard that Jeff set that night. George Harrison and Roy Orbison possibly could but they are longer with us so there's only Tom Petty and Bob Dylan left who I can dream about seeing with any awe. Once I see those two my list will be complete.
Everything from now on will forever seem flat compared to ELO. Every gig from now on will only bring enjoyment and not the momentous joy I experienced in Liverpool. Only a great artist like Jeff Lynne can create a hole so big that only he can fill.
Seeing Jeff Lynne was seeing a man who was totally in love with the music he was performing. While he may not enjoy live performance he definitely enjoys the sense of accomplishment a well-performed piece can bring both to him and to us.

Imagine being 17 and the first concert you went to was ELO during the Out of the Blue tour! Its been down hill ever since. LOL. The only thing that compares you'd probably guess are recent vids of Jeff's concerts on Youtube.

Any chance to have a dig at Jeff Lynne, did not play this, too short, cut this song out,how dare he be ill, what about my hotel bill. Get your heads around that this is a big bones, a thing that I never thought I would see, or have the pleasure of taking my 15 year old son to see, in fact he is pleading me to take him again to Manchester. For me Jeff and Richard could come on and just play Daybreaker and I would go home happy. but to some this would cause a meltdown, too short and what the hell was that they were playing. Just enjoy it while it last, because we will never see the likes of this again.

I bet you wouldn't be giving us the same "I'm happy with whatever bone he decides to throw us" message if this weren't like that. There could be people who were unable to attend after a date reprogramming, so you wouldn't expect them to be happy just because Jeff is playing for other people, would you? If he came out and just played Daybreaker you can be sure I would be asking for a refund, if not trying to burn down the whole O2 arena. Call it meltown or whatever, no way I'd be having that and being happy. I have paid a hell of a lot of money to be there, why haven't I got the right to demand a decent show? Why should I be thankful to the guy for just giving me a minute of his existence in whatever form? I love Jeff Lynne but I'm not the "I'll defend you whatever you do" kind of guy. This doesn't mean I'm criticizing the show he gave when I attended (I was elated with it), but I'll never resign my right to protest in case the artist doesn't fulfill my minimum expectations as you do, no matter if it's Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney or God whom we are talking about.

Jeff could never live up to the kind of expectations we have for him. We love him. (We love to talk about him & we love to complain about him.) But getting to see him in the flesh is a dream come true. How can any person live up to a collective dream? I think Jeff is as into it as he can be... he must be or he wouldn't do it! So lets just cheer him on... Our man Jeff!!! Amazing musician & songwriter & supercool dude all around and as into this tour as he is capable of being!!!

I've been to loads of gigs from Foo Fighters to Adele, all completely different, different energy, some are on stage longer than others, some interact with the audience better than others but I couldn't compare any of them. I go to see a particular band/singer because I like them and not how much of a marathon singing session they can give me. I saw Jeff in Newcastle which was the first and possibly only opportunity I'll ever get to see him so the time he was on stage was better than nothing. I didn't know Jeff was so shy, however I thought the length was adequate and the show highly enjoyable.

mrelopne, I take it that you tried to answer to my message. Nothing of that came out though and your last message is just you quoting me.

No worries.
